Did he mean Metro Market? PCC? Safeway? Or?

Interesting quote from West Seattle’s Most Famous Politician in what The Big Blog says is an Esquire Magazine feature about “stylish” mayors (not available online so far as we can tell). We must admit, a decade and a half in WS but we have yet to find ourselves grocery-shopping at the same place and time as Hizzoner. (Did rub produce-browsing elbows with ex-police chief Norm Stamper once.) 9:47 PM UPDATE: Citizen Rain points us to examples of the mayor’s style in his online photo gallery, which is more up to date than many other parts of the city website – it actually has pix from his KIRO Radio guest appearance today. (And yet we couldn’t get timely, detailed city website updates during Windstorm ’06 …)

Try Saturdays, mid-afternoon, Admiral Safeway. In a suit yet, usually with a woman (wife?).

I just ignore him, and keep on walkin.

That’s because Hizzoner doesn’t rub elbows with middle class people (unless there’s a photo op available). He’s too busy concerning himself with the weathly to even notice that his policies & suggestions all too often make lives more difficult for the working class. From garbage rate hikes to bike lanes restricting flow on major roadways to attempting to take away our views, Hizzoner’s efforts hurt the middle class at every turn. (Though, I’m for the first two in different implimentations). But yeah, as is, he’s “affected” us alright. Yippie.

We’ve run into him at the farmer’s market.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the Mayor at Metropolitan Market at least once. Would be right on his way home too. [insert snark about what aisle he was on here]

WELLLLL, RobertSeattle, when looking at him (as seldom as possible), my guess would be ice cream/bakery and/or pasta. It takes a lot of work to look like that.

I’ve seen him at the Chelan Cafe many times.

Nothing undermines Esquire’s credibility more than elevating Seattle’s mayor as “stylish.” What’s next, an article on the practicality of short-sleeve suits?

As if we needed another excuse NOT to read this magazine.

I see him at Metropolitan Market often.

    I don’t give a rat’s *** where the mayor shops.

I’ve run into the Mayor at the Metropolitan Market at around 11:00pm at night with his driver/body guard.

I saw him asleep underneath the stuffed pork chops section at Safeway…looked like he ate too many.

He could have meant “The Market”, meaning Pike Place.

Sorry, comment time is over.
