I saw this dog at about 9:15 on S.W. Southern St. west of California Av., right where the street makes a sharp turn to go down the hill. He was traveling uphill, running quickly with no apparent sign of injury. Didn’t see the leash, but definitely saw the collar. Didn’t respond to me calling to him. Lisa has been called and is out there looking for him, so keep your eyes open for him on Gatewood Hill around south end of California and call if you see him.
Thanks, Cindy, that’s where we are, so I’ll keep an ear out for barking etc. …
This is the dog I saw at 9:45 this morning on California at Southern. Several of us tried to catch him, but were unable. He is dragging a leash. I had to go to the airport and upon returning, at 10:45, looked for him on Rose at Fauntleroy and up the hill to California. We also searched East of California from Austin to Thistle and as Far East as 38th. Seems like he has left the Gatewood neighborhood.
Thanks so much to all of you! This is a dog I’m fostering for Salty Dog Rescue. He’s only been with me since Wednesday and is very skittish. The coordinator of Salty Dog has provided me with a live trap. In her experience, it’s the best way to recover skittish dogs. If any of you neighbors are willing to let me set up the trap in your yard, I’d very much appreciate it! Thanks so much – Lisa
Update: I saw the dog while putting up posters around California and Southern at about 4:30. Unfortunately, he’s so scared he wouldn’t come to me. I set up the live trap, and I’ll be checking it throughout the night. If you see the dog, DON’T chase him – I don’t want him getting any further away!
Lisa, I’ll be walking Sadie around eleven thirty. If you let me know where you set the trap and what you used for bait, I’ll look to see if he’s there and restock the food if it’s gone. Good luck.
Lisa- I called you this morning. That is where I saw your pup way down hill from Southern almost at the steps at bottom Thistle. Paula
Oh good. I was worried about him out in the rain last night. Obviously the trap worked? I went by around 9 this morning and didn’t see it so I assume you got him last night or early this morning?
Oops, thanks for the reminder that I need to update this to reflect resolution.
PHEW! I called in my sighting near Westwood Village after seeing your poster up at the junction. So relieved he made it home, especially knowing he is a Salty dog!
