  Your cat may be friendly, but he is also a prey animal and may go into survival mode.

  He probably would not have gone too far unless chased.  Look in neighbors
  garages, under bushes in crawlspaces, up in trees (at night use a
  flashlight).   If their whiskers can fit, so can they.  Try leaving food
  out in a trap. Ask Furry Faces if they have one you can borrow of if
  they know who does.  Put something out that has your scent and his. 

  You will have to physically look everywhere.  Scared cats usually do not come when called.

  Look every day and every night.  Don’t give up.   I am home all day,
