West Seattle, Washington

(Back home – see comments)
I know an orange cat was brought into VCA West Seattle. They said that it walked into someone’s house through their doggie door and had a red bandage on its leg.
Sending good thoughts your way for both Squirt and Sandy.
Is Squirt chipped? Have you reported her missing to the chip company?
Any sightings?
Have you been calling the Seattle Animal Shelter lost/found line daily? 206-386-7387
Make sure you go in person and fill out the forms, and look in person. It is your cat and you care the most, they will see a lot of black cats pass through their door. Keep checking in person every few days.
Create a clear lost flyers and take it to local vets and pet stores, there are also multiple free sites you can use to post your lost pet. Post them ALL OVER the area he went missing. Also in mailboxes of neighbors or on doors. Knock on doors and ask people to check or better yet, ask if you can look in their yard and out buildings. Keep checking.
When searching, do not have fear in your voice, call as if he were home and don’t make excess noise that will scare him further.
Some advice:
Put Squirts dirty litter outside, the smell will travel and help guide him if he needs it. Also, put an article of Sandys dirty clothing out.
With the coyotes and other critters, food is not recommended. Does your Squirt have a way to get inside if he does come back? Make sure there is a safe place to hang out.
There are also some great tips here…
For search advice and literature about the behavior of lost kitties, you can go to Missing Pet Partnership’s website: http://www.missingpetpartnership.org and here http://www.maddiesfund.org/what-you-dont-know-about-lost-pets-can-hurt-them.htm
Sending compassion, and good thoughts.
Thank you Elle for all the good advice. Squirt has not come home yet and these are great ideas.
Lost cat SQUIRT was found and is back home.
SQUIRT had been missing for 7 days. His humans posted flyers on telephone poles, information was listed on the Pigeon Point Facebook page. A friend alerted the WS Blog. All who knew Squirt queried passers-by as they walked through Pigeon Point. Helpful leads were forwarded to Sandy and all leads were pursued. Backyards, sheds and garages were searched, to no avail.
There was no sign of Sandy’s much beloved 13 year-old cat Squirt. After a week, many of Sandy’s neighbors and friends despaired of ever seeing SQUIRT again. However, just then as luck would have it, Squirt was found. He is happily back home. This is thanks to Squirt’s dog-friend, Bobo.
Bobo saved the day. It happened like this.
Bobo and his humans left for a walk last Friday, as usual. Shortly after leaving the house, Bobo noticed SQUIRT on the sidewalk nearby. Bobo walked directly up to SQUIRT in his typical, friendly way. Bobo’s human’s did a double take. After a week of being missing, here was their friend Sandy’s beloved missing cat. They all stopped walking. After a moment, Squirt was gently picked up and carried directly to Sandy’s front door, purring all the way.
Sandy was was deeply surprised, then overjoyed to see Squirt appear on his doorstep. Accompanied by Bobo and his human’s no less.
Squirt is back where he belongs. He looks a little thinner than normal, but otherwise seems no worse for the wear. The whole neighborhood breathed a big sigh of relief. Squirt was back with Sandy. This, thanks to a chance encounter between Bobo and Squirt.
All’s well that end’s well.
