West Seattle, Washington
19 Tuesday
A young male orange and white tabby wandered into Camp Second Chance on Myers Way near White Center. He’s very personable, and looks like he’s been in a recent fight, but otherwise healthy. I can be reached via email alisatana@gmail.com
I saw a similar one but with more white, across the street behind the gates today. There is a serious cat issue there. I would suggest getting it to the shelter. I know the east side of the street is Seattle Animal Shelter. I am not sure about Camp Second Chance.
It’s on the city-owned Myers Way Parcels so I would guess that means it’s also SAS, assuming they handle the entirety of the city limits …
Local TNR groups have tried to get in and were turned away by the “residents”.
Its it city or county land? It is either Seattle Animal Shelter or Regional Animal Services King County out of Kent.
To a homeless person an animal companion is often the last thing they have and the only soul they feel loves them, it is a special and important bond. I would hope that any companion animals would be S/N and returned.
Any feral cats that have formed a colony need to be dealt with before winter. I *think* that colony has a care take, but not positive.
Please contact the finder directly. This IS city land. The encampment is unauthorized but so far has been allowed to stay (just inside the gate to the main Myers Way Parcels entrance) and is organized (and in fact, at least two people associated with it are scheduled to be participating in the homelessness panel discussion at Highland Park Action Committee this Wednesday night) fwiw.
