FOUND CAT: Injured, taken to clinic – May 13, 2017 12:57 pm

URGENT: I found this cutie half submerged in the waterfall at Pond Park in High Point (SW Juneau and 30th Ave SW). It is clearly injured. We were able to wrap it up in a towel and put it in a cat carrier. Husband is taking it to the vet to check for a microchip. Called Kitty Harbor which recommended taking it to the Seattle Animal Shelter, but they are not yet open and I am unsure as to what kind of medical care they might provide. Does anyone know this cat or its owners? Please call 206-683-3523 if you can help.

UPDATE: Cat was chipped but it would appear that the owners didn’t update their info since moving from Tacoma. Here is what we know: the cat’s name is Nod and it lived in Tacoma in 2012. Currently with West Seattle Animal Hospital who is in touch with SAS and doing what they can to find out more info.

Thank you so much for saving and helping this poor cat!

I was mistaken before. Nod used to live in Spokane, not Tacoma.

wow, i’m surprised the poor guy let you touch him – injured animals are often difficult to handle, even for their owners. very nice of the rescuer.

I had shared your post to the Facebook group Lost &found black cats in Washington, & someone had a question/ comment regarding this kitty..

TThir question to me was – Can  you let them know that the regional animal shelter in Kent (RASKC) Brings cats from Spokane quite often to be adopted out over here?  I think this may be one of these cases.  My gut tells me I’m just about positive it is.  I bet it has another microchip but it may be of no help as the person who adopted may not have updated yet.  I’ve seen several posts/ads lately with no pic of people newly adopting losing their new cat.  I would love to find out more of how it was found because if this is a case of someone giving a cat away on craigslist and a bad person was trying to do something mean…..well it looks like that, too.  No cat I know willingly sits in a waterfall on a cold day.   Especially injured.

Kitty Harbor brought many cats from Spokane to Seattle for adoption.

UPDATE: Nod is at the Seattle Animal Shelter and will be put up for adoption tomorrow if no one comes forward to claim him. I have spoken to several neighbors who have seen this cat around the neighborhood for a while, but no one knows where he lives. Fairly certain it is a High Point resident. It is sad to think that the microchip is of no use, but heartening to know that so many animals from Eastern WA and elsewhere are getting a second chance at a forever home in Seattle.

As far as his health, SAS states that he is being treated by a vet for an infection and diarrhea. No mention of physical injury… which is strange because, as someone else noted, cats don’t sit in cold running water on chilly days (or warm ones for that matter).

Make sure your pets’ microchips are up-to-date with your current contact info!!

Thanks for taking care of this guy!

I live near the corner of 30th and Juneau and I along with a neighbor have been feeding a stray black kitty for a number of months. He’s not Nod… Our stray isn’t microchipped and I saw him just this morning… but I’m curious when asking other neighbors if any of them mentioned missing a different black cat? Our stray is male and all black except for a couple white splotches on his underbelly. Very friendly, too. Thanks!

Its a shot in the dark but our beautiful large neutered/microchipped male went missing from Richland WA June 24th or 25th, 2016. Hit name is Cat Boy and he is so sweet. Always thirsty likes to drink from the toilet. His only mark is a white bikini area patch on the lower tummy. I believe he was abducted by a neighbor that moved to either spokane or possibly the other side of the mountains or both. My Cat Boy can escape any locked door. Please check his chip again or make sure the other wand to make sure he isnt double chipped. We still miss him and I look for him everyday.
