Dog sighting: White/red terrier, Jack Russell mix – November 4, 2012 5:43 pm

Cheryl spotted a loose dog in Fauntlee Hills this afternoon and sends this info with the photo:

The dog is a male WHITE/RED terrier (Jack Russell Mix) and was wearing a collar, w/ a Rabies tag and a name tag, I could make out SOME of the info on the name tag… E.g. his name is “Finnigan” and the street address on the tag is 42nd Ave. SW, Seattle 98136, but I couldn’t make out the house number or the phone number from his tag (seems blurred or rubbed off?). He wouldn’t come close enough for me to nab him so I could make contact w/ the owner, or see the tag better. :(

I fed him about a cup and a 1/2 of some of my dogs’ dry kibble. Called to him, tried to use my dogs leash to coax him, and tried to get him into the car. Used his name, the words “walk”, “ride”, “treat”, etc. but zero luck.

He eventually took off due west down my street (Trenton SW) and then made a left onto 41st SW, heading south toward Barton and the Fauntleroy YMCA. I lost sight of him after he made it to the corner of 41st and Concord, he was still in Fauntlee Hills at that point. I did not see him continue to Barton, so hoping he headed up Concord instead and back into the heart of our neighborhood.

He seems to have an injury on his right rear leg and is limping. He is VERY skittish, but also VERY hungry (he ate all I gave him until it was gone). Stubby tail tucked tightly between his legs. Balked at other dogs and people walking near. Cars seemed to freak him out too. I sure hope whomever he belongs to is still looking for him and able to find him soon. He’s a darling little guy.

Thanks and if I see him again, I’ll let you know!

Cheryl – that may well mean the dog went home or was found – don’t lose hope in humanity :) In years of being a lost/found pet clearinghouse of sorts, we have heard it all … TR

This makes me so sad. :( I have a dog who looks a lot like him. I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes out. I hope he is home by now.

This dog (Finnigan) has been roaming the Fauntlee Hills and adjoining neighborhoods for a few years. His people moved from 42nd – where you saw him- due east to Henderson. They run an in-home daycare, which doesn’t suit this little guy at all. So he gets out, takes off and wanders. I’m not sure they realize he HATES his new situation. I used to see the man out in his truck calling for the dog, but not lately. Finnigan stops by my house and eats all the food I leave for my ferals and is quite skittish. I wonder if they’d be willing to give this guy up to a quiet home with adults only who will take better care of his needs. I promise to find out.
