My black cat Diesel went missing three years ago down on Alki. So this really touched my heart and would like to offer any assistance that I can. Having lost a cat whom I loved very much I really researched all the ways to find him. I have traps to offer, advice on what to do and way that might help lure him home. Please let me know what I can do for you.
Is Diesel chipped? Have you reported him missing to the chip company?
    Any sightings?
Have you been calling the Seattle Animal Shelter lost/found line daily? 206-386-7387
Make sure you go in person and fill out the forms, and look in person. It is your cat and you care the most, they will see a lot of black cats pass through their door. Keep checking in person every few days.
Create a clear lost flyers and take it to local vets and pet stores, there are also multiple free sites you can use to post your lost pet. Post them ALL OVER the area he went missing. Also in mailboxes of neighbors or on doors. Knock on doors and ask people to check or better yet, ask if you can look in their yard and out buildings. Keep checking.
When searching, do not have fear in your voice, call as if he were home and don’t make excess noise that will scare him further.
    Some advice:
Put his dirty litter outside, the smell will travel and help guide him if he needs it. Also, put an article of your dirty clothing out.
With the coyotes and other critters, food is not recommended. Does your cat have a way to get inside if they do come back? Make sure there is a safe place to hang out.
There are also some great tips here…

    Hi Elle,

Wow! Such great advice! Thank you. I’ve done about half of that, will get started on the rest. I’m sorry about ‘your’ Diesel. It’s amazing how much these little critters mean to us. Hopefully I’ll have good news soon.

    Thank you Elle!
