Diesel the black cat missing in Alki – December 17, 2012 2:20 pm

(UPDATE: While Diesel still hasn’t been found, his person has found someone – here’s the story)

Diesel is a three year old black male cat. He has been missing for two days from the 1500 – 1600 block area of Alki Avenue SW. (Along the beach) He was last seen Saturday evening.

He is all black with white hairs throughout his coat. Diesel is an average to small cat with a long tail that has a kink at the end. He has a soft coat with fur that is just slightly longer than a short hair cat. Diesel is microchipped. He normally wears a collar but it came off so he is out there with no information. He is very timid, normally staying near my side most of the time (hence why I am so worried). He hides when scared, I am not sure if he will come out for a stranger. Diesel has a soft meow.

I am most worried he is injured somewhere, because he always comes when called. Any information would be appreciated. He may seem like just another lost black cat – but he is my best friend and I love him. Please come home Diesel. Thank you so much, I appreciate any assistance that can be provided in bringing my baby home.

    He is still missing.
    I keep looking.

  • Elle December 19, 2012 (9:41 am)

Diesel is still missing, PLEASE – keep your eyes open for my poor little fellow.

  • Sassy December 19, 2012 (11:11 am)

    Keep looking.
He is probably hunkered down somewhere to stay warm.
Could he be stuck in a garage?

  • Elle December 20, 2012 (9:41 am)

    Still searching.
Thank you to the person who called an offered support and the number to Joy – I have left her a message and hopefully she can help!
I think I have found every critter in the neighborhood, except Diesel. I have been up and down the block searching in neighbors backyards, under houses and open spaces, not to mention out buildings, garages, etc.
    Come home my little star!

Thanks Elle, that was me. I’ve used Joy Turner for a number of years now with the animal rescue/fostering/feral cat colonies I maintain. Amazing lady and the work/gift she has. I pray all turns out well for Diesel, and for Ella the blind kitty, and ALL those that I see their posts here. don’t want to give false hope but I live on 16th north of SSCC and I saw a little black kitty this morning I thought it was strange because I have never seen it in the neighborhood before and it was hiding by some trash cans it did come out to see me when I started talking to it and I gave it a few pets it was dark so couldn’t see much except that it was black and a smallish kitty very soft I began to get worried because it started following me to the bus stop I hope whomevers kitty it is it is found because it was very sweet and hope you find your Diesel…I just figured you never know you hear about animals traveling long ways. Good luck!

If Diesel is not home by Sunday morning. I would like to have a search party Sunday afternoon.
If you have an hour or so to search an area for a small scared kitty, please let me know.

I live on Alki Ave SW. (About a mile south (?) of the Bathhouse)

Some of the terrain is pretty rough. Boots, gloves and flashlights recommended.

Again, I know this is a long shot. I can only lay my hope and wish out there that he comes home, or I find him by Sunday morning.

Please contact me if you can help.
Thank you and bless you in advance.

My sweet baby, Diesel. Come home where it is warm. We miss you. There are a lot of people hoping for a Christmas miracle, and some felines too. Come home to us Diesel.

If you can’t/won’t come home. I pray that you are warm, comfortable, fed, and not suffering.

My prayers go out to all the homeless and missing pets on this Christmas Eve. May all beings be free of suffering.

    in peace

Thinking of you Elle. I so hope that Diesel is warm & comfy too – and finds his way home soon.

  • Elle January 5, 2013 (9:42 am)

PLEASE….Diesel is STILL missing. Don’t stop looking. His posting is so low down I am afraid people will forget…

  • Sassy January 7, 2013 (11:13 am)

Not forgotten! I check here all the time.
Could he have been found by someone? No doubt you’ve done loads of fliers.

  • Elle January 8, 2013 (9:58 am)

    Hi Sassy….

I hope he was found by someone, but I would like it if they let him come home.

I go around every few days and add, replace, change fliers.

Any suggestions of where to put them further from home?

Thank you for your caring and support!

  • Sassy January 8, 2013 (11:50 am)

I would ask to hang flyers at local businesses, and be in touch with the local Animal organizations – like Kitty Harbor, and the FAF group that operates out of Next to Nature in the junction.

And what about Vet Clinics? I would let Diesel’s Vet know for sure that he is missing – and give them a flyer.
Cats can travel, and Diesel may have ventured too far, and cannot find his way back.
He is microchipped, so that is definitely your best bet on getting him back if he was found by another.
Just keep putting positive thought out there – Diesel obviously loves you, and he will want to come back to you. He just might need a bit of extra help!

  • Elle January 15, 2013 (9:07 pm)

I did a pet amber alert and another poster run. I went way far out of my way, posting in all the animal focused stores and the vets.

It has been a month. I can only hope he found a warm place to lay his sweet head.

You will never be gone Diesel, you will always be in my heart.

If anyone has any information, please let me know.

  • Elle January 17, 2013 (10:24 am)

I love you sweet Diesel D. I am sorry for not protecting you from this cruel world. I only hope you didn’t suffer and if you are still out there that you are warm and your belly is full.

I miss you so much my little buddy.

  • Elle January 20, 2013 (3:17 pm)

Tomorrow your sister, brother, myself and your Auntie Jen and Miss Donna are going to have a farewell ritual for you sweet one to send you lovingly over the rainbow bridge.
Your soul deserves to be set free to romp and play in the warm meadows over the bridge. We will see each other again some day my sweet boy. Mandrake will be there to great you, don’t be scared.
I will never forgive myself for not protecting you, such a kind, timid, sweet soul. You never killed a bird or other creature, you just played with your toys like a good boy. You were always by my side and I feel like part of me is missing. My heart has a hole that will never be filled.
There are simply no words to console me, I can only pray you didn’t suffer, not for one tiny moment.I cannot grasp why, why you. Why my Diesel D, he was only three.
This feels like a cruel joke someone is playing. I never got to say goodbye. He was my tiny baby. Blessed Be Diesel D.
    I am sorry.

  • Sassy January 21, 2013 (10:54 am)

Oh Elle, what happened to sweet Diesel?
I am so, so sorry. Please know that many of us are thinking of you, and praying for your sweet little guy.

I too lost a black cat, many years ago now.
Her name was Licorice, and she was so very sweet.
She used to sit beside me all the time, just like your little guy.
Then one day, she was gone. I searched for over 6 months, but she did not return.

I still think of her, cry for her. I pray that nobody every hurt her, but just loved her.
I have a picture of her framed in my home, and I look at it often, always remembering her sweet temperment.

I hope that your farewell ritual is wonderful.

  • Elle January 22, 2013 (3:05 pm)

Thank you Sassy, and bless you!

It was a lovely ritual. It was a celebration in appreciation of being allowed the joy and privilege of having Diesel in our lives.
I said, “Diesel, come back if you will, either in body or in spirit, but if you must go free, go with my blessing and thanks”.
Then we sent him with warmth and energy for the next step in his journey, be it in this life, or another, this home or another.”

We also included the prayer for the animals and blessed all those missing, injured, homeless, frightened, hungry, lost, or deserted.

It really was a beautiful ceremony. We both needed it for our healing. I believe he is purring, warm, full, and playing, wherever he is. I was truly blessed with the time I had with him. I have set up a wonderful memorial to him and he looks out over the water, trees, birds, and all his favorite things.

Thank you again, Sassy. It has been a pleasure to “meet” such a kind person – albeit through a sad part of the site.
I hope my Diesel and your Licorice get to play together over the rainbow bridge until we get to be reunited with them again.

    in peace…
    Lisa B. aka elle

I had a dream about you last night, little Diesel. You were happy and having fun playing in the grass and sun.
I miss you so incredibly much!

  • Elle March 26, 2013 (1:00 pm)

So many reunited and back home in the posts above you now…
I wish we had been able to post a happy ending Diesel D.
I believe wherever you are in body or spirit, you are where you need to be doing what you need to be doing.
    I love you baby boy!
    Momma

Diesel D…Brother, Sissy and I had to move.
We are no longer at the beach house, the cat door is gone, you won’t be able to be inside.
The smokey men next door said to go to their house, they loved having you play in their backyard, watching you have fun rolling around in the grass, so happy and content. I didn’t realize that you and your brother, Leopold, used to sneak into their laundry room and sleep on the warm dryer, JP even told me you would go in the house and hang out – I am so proud of you, I thought you were so afraid of people but you proved me wrong. I am glad you were able to spend time with these kind gentlemen. They will welcome you with open arms, some food, and a warm dryer to sleep on, plus, they will call Momma and we can be reunited.
If you are, by some miracle, still out there…come home Diesel, the neighbors are still looking out for you and have your poster.
Stay away from the mean lady upstairs….you know what to do.
I love you my smart little fella and I know you are okay, wherever you are.
    Love,
    Momma

I thought I found you, but instead found a little boy with your spirit who looked into my eyes like you would.
He was lost and scared and living in a dirty, yucky place, but Momma caught him and took care of him, giving him lots of food and love, snuggling like we used to – he even wore your sweatshirt (I didn’t think you would mind, he was cold.)
He had a sad story, his name used to be Courage and he certainly had that, but he was too special to keep the name given to him by a bad human (I used to tell you about the bad humans who don’t spay/neuter, injure animals or treat them with cruelty).
His name is now Elliott Lee Talarico – pretty cool, huh. Not as cool as Diesel D the Destroyer – but we tried :)
He is waiting to find a forever home now. Some very kind people at Next to Nature are taking care of him until a special person comes to love and snuggle him and treat him kindly for the rest of his life.

Thank you Diesel, I know you guided this little fellow to us so he could get off the street.
Prior to going out that night with the traps I was planting a garden for your brother, he is still angry with Momma for moving and taking away “the outside”. I planted all sorts of healthy grasses and catnips. As I finished, I looked up and the most incredible rainbow was in front of me. Thank you for letting me know you are okay, for showing me the beauty in life and for giving me the strength to help that little kitty.

Oh, how I wish it had been you. My heart lept into my throat at one point as the cat ran toward us, but I could tell, I could just tell…even in the dark, in an alley, 100 feet away…I could tell.

I love you Diesel D – bless you for all you did and continue to do for me.

I will never stop looking for you baby. I can only hope someone finds you and scans you for your chip.

  • LisaB (formerly Elle) May 13, 2013 (12:15 pm)

I hope you found your sister over the Rainbow Bridge.

  • elle November 5, 2013 (7:47 am)

I still look for you my little Diesel D. It has been almost a year and I miss you like it was yesterday.

  • elle September 21, 2014 (1:49 pm)

I haven’t forgotten you my sweet boy, I think of you each day and wonder what happened to you. Bless your loving heart and soul.

  • LisaB October 13, 2015 (9:55 am)

I still hold some hope that a sweet black cat will be scanned for a chip and it will be you…I keep all your information up to date. I miss you and your sister so much. Leopold still seems lost without you both, though he has Elliott, it isn’t the same for him. I have helped a lot of animals find their homes when they got lost, I have saved lives, I bottle fed baby kittens as young as a day old (you would have loved all the fosters). None of it will right the wrong of you going away from me, I needed you, I loved you and I know you felt the same as me.
Please people, if you read this, check any animal you find for a chip!
