WSBKeymasterWasn’t going to say anything but since NOBODY else has … tried it for the first time tonight.
Like “good pizza,” “good fried chicken” is a VERY subjective phrase. Depends on your style/flavor preference. So I’ll try to describe it objectively.
Definitely high-quality chicken leg-thigh – not greasy, despite being dark meat. The crust is crunchy, a solid sheet. Savory and dense.
The slaw was purple cabbage in a sweet dressing; the potato salad, very clean-tasting, diced potatoes and bits of celery, hint of mustard in the dressing.
Patrick went in not knowing what to expect for takeout – we’ve had a very intense few days and just decided dinner could not be another 10 pm ham sandwich. They make it to order so it was a 15-minute wait.
Didn’t try anything else on the menu so can’t help you there. The chicken came with two containers of sauces but I’ve never seen fried chicken as a dipping kind of thing so didn’t try them.
All definitely very fresh! – TR

The Velvet BulldogParticipantThe BF and I found it to be ok–I actually liked the pulled-pork sammy better than the chicken. The chicken’s batter is very peppery, which just doesn’t happen to be to my taste. It’s not too greasy though, which is nice. I found the potato salad rather lackluster, but the pickled cabbage slaw was kind of fun.

Goober1MemberWent there last night and had the fried chicken quarter which was great. After he brines the chicken for 8 hours in buttermilk then he smokes the meat. Great flavors and not greasy at all. Had fun sitting at the counter and Bruce and his wife Patty were very hospitable. Can’t wait to try the pulled pork.

AlParticipantI’ve tried it once and plan on visiting again. I had the chicken strips – it was enough for two people. Very tender and flavorful chicken even without the coating. Thick coating that goes down great with beer. Yes, it’s peppery but not spicy. The slaw was very good. I would like to see a spicy dipping sauce myself. The service was great and super friendly.
