SeaStarParticipantWhat the best place to buy? Do you know the best deal?
October 26, 2016 at 1:21 pm #862417
kungfupanda4545ParticipantThat really depends on what you are looking for. If you want to drive down town then Pike Place has a ton of great seafood.
I for one use a company called global seafoods. Far more convenient because they will deliver to you making it so you don’t have to fight traffic and look for parking.
Once again it all really depends on what you are looking for and how far out you are willing to drive.

SeaStarParticipantI am been on Pike place, seafood is great but prices are high, high. I looked at global site, looks good. Did you try to buy form them?

SeaStarParticipantI want to try black cod and crab

JayDeeParticipant@SeaStar: How much seafood/freezer room are you looking for? Global apparently sells bulk seafood but it is only cheap if you need a lot. I have gotten some deals from Seattle Fish in the Junction if I buy a lot at once. They are also good for smaller servings but I’ll take quality over cheapness per-se. I like knowing where my fish came from and how long ago it was caught. Seattle Fish is pretty good for this in my book.

SeaStarParticipantI have big freezer box, but can not find SF store. Does they have King Crab? I was in Pink Place, big size crab almost $40 lb

rwParticipantUwajimaya often has some pretty good deals and a good selection. Mutual Fish has a broad selection but is generally more expensive the Uwajimaya. For a very large variety of whole fish at good prices, try Lam’s in the ID or Seafood City in Southcenter. These places sell a of fish, and the fact that it’s whole gives you a solid basis for judging freshness. However, having read articles about abusive and harmful practices in the asian seafood industry, I confess to concern about the provenance of some of their fish.

SeaStarParticipantJust order 10 lbs king crab and 10 lbs black cod from globalseafoods.com I will keep posted next week when I try it. I found them in Amazon, but I want to try direct. Hope I will not have any issues.

kungfupanda4545ParticipantSeaStar let me know what you think of the black cod, I have been tempted to try it, but it is expensive and I want to hear someones opinion on it before I give it a try. But i love rockfish tacos so I get the Rougheye Rockfish from global seafoods. Super tasty! Plus if you follow local polls and such they just got ranked by A-List as top seafood market, over even pike place. They sent me a coupon to use for $20 off for an order over $100, I recommend you give it a try. The code is globalseafoods#1. I used it to order some more rockfish, but my dad in Miami ordered caviar and smoked scallops and flounder from them using the same code. He has never tried their services, but I am excited for him to try it!
