There are many reports of car prowls and thefts but I never hear car alarms. Are they illegal in Seattle? or is there another reason why they aren’t used?

Are you kidding me? They go off all the time in my neighborhood! When a loud motorcycle drives by. When I’m trying to fall back asleep in the middle of the night. When some moron hits the “panic” button instead of “lock” or “unlock”. When the wind blows the wrong way. About the only time they DON’T go off is when a prowler breaks in.

The biggest value in a car alarm was to protect the aftermarket stereo and for the automatic door lock/unlock.
