There’s a parking lot across Airport Way S from Elo’s Philly Grill. It’s visible from the I5 S ramp to the Spokane Street viaduct.

It’s been used for years by Snohomish County Transit busses laying over.

In the last few months, I’ve seen a fleet of Smart Cars parked there. They either look like they have Snohomish County Transit colors or still have white plastic shipping wrap, it’s hard to tell from the ramp.

I never get down that way so I’m hoping someone has gotten a closer look, or better yet has some knowledge of why they are there.

    Thanks.

Stocking stuffers. The elves just parked them there for now.

My husband just asked me about this Smart Car lot… wondering, too.

We just went over there and had a look. There’s maybe 200-300 of them. They are all new, unlicensed, have license plate frames from Merecedes Benz of Seattle and some of them have the new car sticker on the inside of the window. All have steel wheels held on by 3 lug nuts (maybe that’s how all Smart’s roll) and an identical paint job with markings from CAR2GO. The website for this is http://www.car2go.com. Will post phone camera pictures soon.

Thanks, two people have asked us about this and we are so busy with what’s going on in our coverage area that there’s been no time to go look. “Car 2 Go” apparently operates in other cities – one person who e-mailed us says they hoped that’s what it is because they have a relative who just loves it. – TR

Looking forward to an alternative to Zipcar. I loved Flexcar, but had some major issues when they merged with Zipcar and ended up cancelling over it. It will be good to have competition.

I saw these last week, wondered about them. Guess car2go is going to start up an operation here, too?

I did some web scouring and it seems that way – but there is no date anywhere; I’ll be contacting their media department (they are a division of Daimler!). The cars apparently have been there for at least a month.

Zip car is about 8 bucks an hour. This company in Austin is about 13 an hour, steep! Would have to be way more convenient than zip for me to use.

kgdlg…Zipcar prices have gone up..Out of the closest car to me, one is 10.75/hr, and one is 11.75/hr. There are just a few that are 8 bucks…mostly hybrids. Yep, everything is going up…

Wow Jan, it has only been a year since I rented too. Darn.
