#46, DBP, I accept your concession. And I’d like to thank ALL the little people who helped me get here. :>>

I want to squeeze another interview into this aging thread. Linked below. If anyone is interested, a few days ago Dr. Lustig was on the following NPR show. If you can get your self over the host-woman’s strange voice, Dr. Lustig outlines some very good data on the science and the politics.

    http://thedianerehmshow.org/shows/2013-01-07/dr-robert-lustig-fat-chance-beating-odds-against-sugar-processed-food-obesity-and-d

Also. Bottom of page, an excerpt from his newest book, Chapter one titled “A Fallacy of Biblical Proportions”.

Well worth the listen and read. Dr. Lustig, teaming up with some of his colleagues, is trying to get science-based results out into the public, past the overwhelming political influence of Big Sugar industries – including especially the whoppingly huge and influential Corn Refiners Association.

My own opinion is Big Pharma’s got an indirect role here, too, as they are strangely rather quiet on the whole issue. I’m pretty sure all the Bigs, Pharma and Corn, unconsciously love the idea of killing the consumer slowly, as it’s a self-generating endless stream of income. First, when we pay them for their so-called ‘food’. And then, as we get sick we pay them a second time, for their ‘treatments’.

Back and forth, the income stream never stops. A fabulous economic model for Wall St. and America’s Crony Capitalism. It’s what’s for breakfast, dinner, and the doctor.

    Thanks Redblack for the upvote.

btw. Most libertarians I know absolutely hate the deception and crony collusions of Business and State. Many libertarians have also been pounding the drums, for years, warning against what the Big Food producers like the Corn Refiners Assoc have been doing.

I have no problem with corporations, per se. I am not against capitalism, either. Free markets are good. But I feel completely different where business and govt. have become intermingled.

Ultimately people need to make things change for ourselves, and not feebly wait for government’s nanny hand to move on our behalf. Crony-corporate America loves nothing more than to watch its consumers helplessly pleading for someone, a savior or a nanny. If someone steps forward it is easy to drown out their message and crucify the messenger. But they can’t stop a massive movement, and they can’t stop individual consumers who have become wise and make different choices. They can only ridicule. Which is not really a problem.
