After waiting an hour for a bus during Monday’s traffic meltdown, a fellow traveler said the magic words, “Water Taxi.” Dozens of us trudged down to the waterfront to join a line of 278 souls who were loaded onto the Water Taxi and transported on comfortable seats to West Seattle, where shuttles were waiting to take us home.
It’s probably because the Boston Red Sox are playing the Mariners. Usually Safeco Field is sold out when they’re in town and traffic is even worse than normal.
Monday was the fire under the Viaduct, which closed NB for a relatively short time and SB for longer – I suspect that’s what “meltdown” refers to. We had a followup yesterday on the suspect arrested for allegedly setting the fire and will be following up again Wednesday to see if he’s charged … TR
