Is it ‘wallfishing’ or ‘wall fishing’ ?? Regardless, the Comcast/Xfinity technician just left my condominium and said that he could not install the additional cable outlet on the other side of the living room because I need to hire an outside contractor to wallfish and drop the cable through the wall for a professional looking cable outlet. I don’t even have any idea what that means, but was somewhat annoyed. Does anyone know of this and/or have a recommendation for an economical/honest outside contractor for this service?
    Thank you.

It’s a bit more complicated than that. Running new cable sideways in a wall is going to need to go through studs (and modern walls will have fireblocks meaning you can’t even run vertically without an obstacle). There are long, flexible drill bits that can do it, but it might be a whole additional level of accountability drilling cables in a condo with shared spaces/walls.

There are some other options with crown molding and small plastic raceways too. The electricians I mentioned in here sound like they might do data wiring too. https://westseattleblog.com/forums-2/topic/need-home-internet-help/

Most digital devices these days can connect via wi-fi. It might be easier, and about the same cost as establishing a new wall connect, to buy a wi-fi unit to connect to your current internet modem.

Or there are wireless signal relays for cable TV signals.

I’d look into wireless solutions for what you want – computer/digital or TV.

Don’t start blind drilling in walls that you don’t own! The flexible drill bits made for this require other tools and some practice to not not drill long raking grooves on the other side of a wall to say nothing about hitting other cables or pipe (hint: most drain pipes are ABS plastic and many waterlines are plastic now as well). If you’re convinced this is the way to go you can cut a chase in the sheetrock on your side and drill it out that way while retaining the removed pieces for reinstallation, taping and mudding. If it’s a condo check your CC&Rs (bylaws and rules, etc) as you may not be able to do that if it’s a demising wall. I’d recommend Wiremold for a surface installation unless you are committed to concealed.

Yes, I’m an electrician. Yes, I’ve damaged other equipment in walls using these bits and see what I said about long grooves and yes, I’ve been an electrician for a long time.
