waidlawofficeParticipantThe Waid Law Office primarily represents plaintiff clients in legal malpractice claims and fee disputes against their former attorneys. We have a Part-Time File Clerk position open immediately in West Seattle. The ideal candidate is a team player with a positive attitude, respects people with diverse backgrounds, and has a professional demeanor and excellent verbal and written skills.
Education/ Training:
A high school diploma or its equivalent is necessary, at a minimum. Most training occurs on the job. Any previous administrative/legal experience or internship experience is not required, but would be helpful.Skills:
The individual will assist attorneys in filing, copying, sorting and scanning, as well as provide administrative support, such as answering phones and greeting clients. The ideal candidate has excellent communication and strong organization skills with attention to detail, can efficiently multitask, is willing to shift priorities as they come, familiarity with MS Office, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.Availability:
The office is open 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Actual hours scheduled are flexible (I0-20 hours per week), provided the schedule is consistently maintained and dependable.Duties:
As a file clerk, you will gain an inside look at how a small law office operates in a congenial environment, while performing the following duties:
• Manage and accurately maintain office filing, both hardcopies and e-files (i.e., utilizing MS Office):
·intake and track discovery production
·create and manage scans of hardcopies for office records
·create new client files
·manage current client files (i.e., communications, invoices, witness folders, etc.)
·archive, track and store closed client files, including for off-site storage
• Provide administrative support, as needed:
·answer incoming office calls
·prepare outgoing mail
·prepare and organize materials for Summary Judgment, mediation, depositions, etc.
·create and maintain electronic inventory of document production
• Intake of potential clients and scheduling initial consultations
