Yesterday evening a heavyset gentleman came to our door soliciting something he never had the chance to talk about (we no longer do business at the door, but invite solicitors to leave their information for consideration).

He had no information about his visit or employer to leave with us and no badge that we could see. As he left we asked about a solicitor’s license. He became upset claiming to have been working at this for 10 years, tried to develop the inquiry into a race issue, yelled a bit from across the street then began to leave the neighborhood. As he did he was ranting about the community blog and that he is not “the one you’re looking for.”

Once around the corner I heard him talking loudly with what sounded like a young woman, though I did not see the companion. We asked police to come through because of the combined concerns in the area (37th & Admiral) of both casing and soliciting without license.

He was a very busy gentleman….he was at my front door about 7:30 at 32nd and Holden. I asked if he was selling something and he said he only wanted to give me a presentation to earn points for a promotion uh…sure. I sent him on his way saying I had company and he asked when he could return…..

He didn’t earn any points up this way, and seems he and friend(s) left our neighborhood and headed right to yours. Frustrating, eh?

I watched a heavy set man (with a female companion) walking through our neighborhood last week. He went to our neighbors door across the street and was yelling something about, “Does my presence make you uncomfortable?” through their front door (they wouldn’t open).

I then heard him say that he would come back when the man of the house was home (how he would know when that is, I have no idea) and left.

What was interesting to me was that they only went to that one house. They saw me, I’m pretty sure, on my porch (had to have heard my barking dog), but never came to talk to me.

Weird.
