FYI doughnuts here are NOT baked live at the location rather trucked in from either their Tukwila or downtown location. Not impressed paying premium prices for a cold doughnut at a fancy storefront… I confirmed this by calling the location.

Go to Mardi Gras in White Center. Support the little guy!

So, it is basically the same as going to QFC-which has a free parking garage, to get the same cold donut. Except you get the Top Pot ambience. Sad, I was hoping for warm fresh fritters.

Love Mardi Gras…they were going to have fritters right?

Seems to me that a Donut shop should at the very least provide a freshly baked donut, like Krispy Kreme, or Dunkin Donuts or Mardi Gras or Voodoo Donuts. It’s disingenuous in my opinion to provide a donut that may be made fresh daily at another location and is served “cold”. I live on Alki and was looking forward to a fresh donut now and then, since I am very health conscious. I was just disappointed by all the hype and then the reality. Once again, lowered expectations prevail…

Thank you, you saved us a trip! We drove by on saturday and saw the line out the door so we opted for qfc. Glad we did!! We also thought it would have been freshly cooked.

You can tell that the space is too small and no vent on top for any baking to be happening. But they have coffee and soft serve ice cream, both items that will be popular on the beach.

What a disappointment. We live on Alki and were looking forward to trying it out but now I am not even interested.

Maybe if someone from Top Pop starts viewing the forum something will change as they will see all the local’s will support the little guy for a fresh donut even if that means taking a drive to White Center.

Thanks for the heads up and for saving us a trip!

I have to agree with the disappointment. Another new Alki business that I won’t be visiting (along with Fat Burger and Subway)

    it’s just a storefront?

great for dispensing summertime beach treats but not worth the hassle of finding some place to park.

BCR, don’t hold your breath. Not because someone won’t read the blog posts, but simply because nothing can/will change.

I’m sure they looked at it during planning and determined that space was suitable only for what it is.

The best donuts in Seattle are fried, not baked at The Original Bakery near the ferry dock.

I get it, cold donuts are disappointing. But are Top Pot donuts served hot anywhere in the City? Whenever I visit the downtown or Cap Hill stores they are always cold. I guess I never had the expectation these would be like the mini donuts at the market rolling off the conveyor belt fresh…

They make them at the Belltown location. Even have a hot sign in window. You can smell the oil, sweeteners and spices. And see them getting glazed.

Same reason I didn’t especially like the Alki Bakery before they decided to leave their namesake location. the Alki Bakery didn’t actually “bake” anything.

I guess I’m just an old fashioned guy who grew up in a smaller version of a town where mom and pop stands were the real thing. Store fronts are a contemporary version of an old classic. It doesn’t necessarily mean I have to comply to the conceptual convenience, rather, inwardly smile, knowing that age and experience has taught me the difference.

I usually don’t like doughnuts, but love Top Pot. I’ve never even thought about if they were warm. Always great people, coffee, and doughnuts. Haven’t checked the Alki store yet, but am planning to this weekend.

I enjoy the ambience of their other locations, especially downtown.

    Welcome Top Pot!

i will walk the extra mile to visit a top pot bakery.. but won’t waste time looking for parking for a storefront…

did you know there is a little bakery in White Center where the donuts are fresh and the beignets alone are worth the trip?

it’s called Mardi Gras… and it’s located at the south end of the White Center business strip on the east side of the street.

psst.. there’s almost always parking :)

oh.. and just in case you don’t know… there’s great food on that stip too.. and of course.. Full Tilt ice cream.

“psst.. there’s almost always parking :)”

Not usually a good sign. Reminds me a a great Yogi quote. “Nobody goes there anymore, it’s too crowded….”

Joking aside, I will give it a try JoB!

Malasadas from Leonard’s Bakery in Kapahulu, on Oahu, makes the best deep fried and sugared as you order Pao Doce or as locals call it malasadas!

(as long as we are on the mouthwatering subject)
