The shared space at 35th and Fauntleroy Way SW (ne corner island) is over grown with grass and weeds. It’s a real mess and I want to clean it up. Who owns it? Contacted the city and they were not clear.

Who did you talk to at the city who was “not clear”? There’s nothing on the Parcel Viewer

but private property and street space. Looks like this would be part of the street space, and that’s city of Seattle unless marked otherwise.

I know one non-government person to check with who may well know – someone with the Fairmount Community Association, which is talking about organizing a long-overdue community cleanup in that area, including the stretch down to Walking on Logs. I’ll e-mail to check — TR (WSB editor)

    That would be great!

I was referred to a list of links by the city and at the end of it all it wasn’t clear if it was a street or parks…or whatever issue. I really just want the city to take the plant materials. I’d be happy to dig it up and replant (solo or part of a community project).

bcollins – I saw lots of work done out there today, was it you? If so, kudos!

Yeah! Actually, a great set of folks were out there the day after I posted. Some neighbor friends saw them out there (joined in) and called me. My wife and I joined in. I’ll probably have some bark delivered to keep the weeds down.

Hey, call us if you do something like that again, we would love to get a photo and post it so you all get credit for your good deeds — TR (206-293-6302 is the official WSB number, or e-mail us, we’re usually online)

How about hammerhead’s offer for free mulch? Pine and cedar don’t break down all that quickly…
