dlipetzholmanParticipantI’m about to cancel my Seattle Times subscription because my delivery service is so spotty. And when I miss a times delivery, the NYT and WSJ doesnt arrive as well.
Any suggestions of other ways to get decent local news online or delivered?

VanessaParticipantOur Easter Sunday paper was skipped again. I have the times complaint email address in my contacts list because too many Sundays missed. They just keep extending my subscription dates supposedly.

dlipetzholmanParticipantI actually just cancelled my subscription—after 37 years..
THanks for your response.April 4, 2018 at 3:25 pm #913159
CJDParticipantAfter 13 years at my Alki address I, too, have cancelled my subscription: skipped deliveries, paper tossed into buses and under the stairs, never delivered to porch as requested. For about 12 of those years delivery was perfect, then it deteriorated rapidly.

JayDeeParticipantI am about to as well. Sunday didn’t arrive at all, neither Tuesday. They though they have started dropping them at the sidewalk (which considering the mass of the paper might be reasonable–it doesn’t travel far). My Sunday paper probably walked off if it wasn’t delivered. If there truly wasn’t delivery what do we do for local news? The first half of the paper is regurgitated national content….

KBearParticipantIt’s really sad that The Seattle Times doesn’t seem to recognize that the home delivery experience is their unique opportunity to differentiate themselves from their online and broadcast competitors. If they can’t be bothered to do it right, they really don’t deserve anyone’s business.

Michael WaldoParticipantI had issues for years. But last year we got a new delivery person. No issues at all. But we complained often about our issues. Even got the district managers phone number. I guess he got tired of me calling as we got a new delivery person. You used to be able to call and reach a live person and they would get a paper to you. Know, just a robot voice asking if you want credit or the paper tomorrow. No, I don’t want the paper tomorrow! Only Sunday, if you call early enough, do you get a live person. My only small complaint is sometimes when they throw the paper on the porch, they knock off some of the flowers in a pot.

DaveBParticipantWe subscribe to the NYT and WSJ. We’ve had delivery issues for a while. Late papers, missing papers, the wrong papers. When I report it, sometimes we get a redelivery, and sometimes we don’t.
Delivery for ST, NYT, WSJ, and a few other papers is done by a single contractor, so it’s not the fault of the individual papers.

KBearParticipantExcept you’re paying the Seattle Times to have a paper delivered to your home. So it IS their responsibility to make sure that it happens, regardless of which parts of the task they’ve chosen to outsource.

DaveBParticipantGood point, KBear.
