ARCjobsParticipantThe Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation, serves Seattle by offering a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes and activities. Our school-age care programs provide a fun, creative, safe and welcoming environment for children to learn, play and grow.
The School-Age Child Care Director is responsible for planning and directing before and after school child care and summer day camp programs for youth ages 5-12 years old; working with Community Center staff to coordinate events, programs and community outreach; supporting other ARC programs within the community center by being a part of planning, marketing and coordination of childcare program events and projects.
There are new openings for the following Hiawatha Community Center programs:
•Genesee Hill Elementary School
•Lafayette Elementary School
•Schmitz Park Elementary SchoolSchedule:
•Monday – Friday 40 hours per week, straight shift
•Schedule subject to change due to program/season and business needsResponsibilities:
•Develop programs that are developmentally age appropriate and culturally relevant
•Establish relationships of mutual trust and good communication with program participants, their families, and community center staff
•Comply with all Department of Early Learning Licensing requirements
•Oversee program staff, including scheduling and on the job training
•Prepare reports and perform other administrative tasks, attendance records, program application and fees, budgeting, etc.
•Provide a safe environment by maintaining orderly, clean and appealing facilities; competent in emergency preparedness; removing known safety hazards; ensuring staff have current CPR/First Aid certification, and any other required or applicable credentialsMinimum Requirements:
•Must be 21 years of age or older
•Must have completed a minimum of 45 or more college credits or a combination of one-third clock hours and two-thirds college credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Social Work, or other child-related field including, but not limited to: art, music, and dance relevant to school-age children, recreation or leisure time activities, physical education, education, psychology, social services, home economics, or nutrition
•Must have at least 2+ years of experience working in child-related programs
•Must have 3-5 years supervisory and/or mentorship experience
•Must have demonstrated working experience working with families, community members and partners to foster positive relationships
•Must have a valid WA state driver license and clear a driving history record from DOL upon hire
•Must provide documentation of current Red Cross First-Aid/CPR certification, HIV/AIDS blood-borne pathogens education and training, a valid King County Food Handlers Permit, WA State Driver’s License, TB test clearance, STARS training or documentation of exemption
•Must successfully complete a background checkThis is a full-time, year-round, benefited position. Hours will vary and may be scheduled between 6:00am to 6:00pm. Working split shifts may be required based on business/program need.
