Over 30 Students are Waiting for a literacy tutor at Sanislo and Highland Park Elementary!
By volunteering for as little as one hour each week you can make a significant and lasting impact on the lives of young elementary school children. Reading Partners Volunteer Tutors work one-on-one with kindergarten through fourth grade students whose literacy skills are one month to two and a half years below grade level benchmarks. By following a research based-curriculum during each tutoring session, Reading Partners Volunteers are able to help students increase their rate of learning. In 2014, 85 percent of our students accelerated in reading and 67 percent were able to make absolute gains in closing their grade-level reading gaps.
