J242ParticipantGreat work to all involved. It’s a lot cleaner and I really like the updates cycling at the top banner. Now the forum remembers my profile & password (something I experienced problems with for the last 4 years at least) and it’s just a nice face-lift all around.
Well done!

WSBKeymasterThank you – the old forum software was the most-broken part of our old setup, with registration and posting glitches and finally a vulnerability to spam attacks, which then required us to spend hours manually deleting the spam that got through. The newer versions of the same software are now integrated with the site’s overall content management system. But we’ll be fine-tuning and fixing for a while, so if you encounter anything unusual or non-functional, please let us know – e-mail editor@westseattleblog.com or look on the home page for our ongoing discussion (which will be updated later tonight). – Tracy

dobroParticipantthings look a lot nicer, good work. A couple of questions- how do we load or re-load avatars? How do we get to our profile page? I tried clicking the button in the login screen but it sends me to a 404 page.

WSBKeymasterDobro – did the 404 page have a URL? If so, please post it or e-mail us at editor@westseattleblog.com – there seem to have been some bad links due to the forum moving to be under the parent /forums-2/ rather than /forums/ or /forum/ … I found your profile here:
https://westseattleblog.com/forums-2/users/dobro/
by clicking on your name under where the avatar SHOULD be (sorry) to the left of your post.
Right now the forum recognizes gravatars which you can upload at gravatar.com but I’ve asked our developers to please see if there’s somewhere to load one directly here.
Many improved features and functionality here but it’ll take a while to figure it all out … celebrating the small victories for starters, like spam back under control. – TR

miwsParticipantDobro, if you go the upload to Gravatar route after you’ve uploaded your pic, and if it is even showing in your WSB Forum profile, you may need to make a comment here on the forums, before it shows on previous posts. That’s what I had to do.
Don’t know if there is a less cumbersome way, or it will eventually work its way out as the site is tweaked, or may become a moot point if upload directly on forum profile is enabled.

dobroParticipantHi WSB- When I tried the login screen button just now it did send me to my profile, so that seems to be fixed. I’ll look into the avatar thing later, thanks.

WSBKeymasterThank you. Fine tuning continues. It has changed a lot for us in the back-end/admin side, too, some of it taking a lot of time for me to get used to – our content system WordPress has inexplicably taken away some of the shortcuts and writer/editor-friendly features between the 2012 version we were stuck at and the 2016 version – and then there are some benefits, such as (haven’t tested this yet) we might actually be able to add photos to stories while posting via the phone – couldn’t do that before so if we were stuck out at a breaking-news story without a laptop, no images on the site until somebody got back to base.
