A rave to Lesley, my favorite “checker” at PCC. Last Friday, I was distraught over the news out of Connecticut, with my own kinder and first grader in elementary school and a husband who works in a high school. Grocery shopping still had to happen and as I started to pay for my groceries, my emotions must have been clear as Lesley came around from behind her counter and gave me a huge hug. She then offered me tea, coffee and more hugs. My faith in humanity was a wee bit restored by this kindness from someone who only knows me in the most casual way. I love our West Seattle community.
