On Friday at Edmunds and California, some kooky woman was yelling abuse at passersby. A sampling: “All those who are not from West Seattle get the f— out now!”

It was — startling, to say the least. A woman on the street yelled, “Hey, watch your language!” To which ranting car lady responded, “F– off, you…pretty nerd!” which we thought was a completely hilarious non-insult.

Anyway: really, folks? Neighborhoods change and more people patronizing businesses is a GOOD thing. Chill out and take it down 5,000 notches.

PS Pretty Nerd is now added to my lexicon.

This is so confusing. I mean, I wasn’t born here but I’ve lived in WS almost 20 years. Am I ‘from’ here?

And twice I’ve been screamed at using slurs against groups to which I do not belong. Can’t we have better-quality insults?

I have the best insult ever, taught to me by a friend from Brooklyn. It can’t be printed, but involves the anatomy and allegedly perverse habits of Bronx dwellers who raise “boids” on the rooftops.

And to think I was once punished for calling my sister a “kook”.

I get yelled at , cut off in crosswalks and laughed at for trying to cross the streets. There is a real animosity among a lot of drivers against cyclists and pedestrians.

JKB…that raises a very good question. I have lived in West Seattle for almost 42 years now…what does that make me? (I’m almost 70…it hasn’t been a lifetime…I’m one of those dreaded east coast transplants…)

As a pedestrian crossing in a crosswalk with a signal, I had an auto driver yell at me,”If you had better shoes you would walk faster!”. He was tired of waiting for me to cross so he could turn. I was 2 weeks post-op a total knee replacement and had just started walking without my crutches…

A woman just tailgated me several blocks (even though I was going the speed limit), honked when I slowed to squeeze past another car on a skinny residential street, and yelled “learn to drive” out her window when I turned into my driveway. What is with the irascible speed demons and angry drivers in West Seattle lately?
