CMPParticipantIs that the lady who was on that home makeover show and ABC installed a one or two lane 25 yard pool in her backyard?! Anyway, you need to provide more info on your children. How old are they and what’s their current swim level? Have they been to lessons before and you’re just looking for stroke technique or do they need to learn how to blow bubbles still?
I think the group lessons at Southwest look like a lot of fun and my friends who bring their kids there love it. With them closing next week, the next best option is Colman, but that’s cold so I’d recommend Medgar Evers in the CD. I think that their lifeguards have to take WSI classes to teach so I’d trust them 100% to teach properly. They also offer private lessons but I think those are a waste of money. I learned to swim at the YMCA in New Orleans just fine, then my parents put all of us on a summer swim team at age five to keep us busy. We all turned into NCAA Division I swimmers and I don’t recall ever having a private lesson once in my life.

changingtimesMembermy daughter takes swim lessons at greenlake and she is really happy there and has a great teacher and small class, she went to the southwest one once and had a horrible swim teacher who was much more intreasted in the boy teaching the class next to her then the children in front of her.

BonnieParticipantI have heard that Safe and Sound swimming down by Lake Union is really good.

swimcatMemberThe swim lessons at Southwest Pool look like fun- the children are always rushing through the locker room to get out to the pool and I never see any of them crying on deck, which is promising.
I guess it all depends on your child though. I have taught little ones how to swim and the water is traumatic for some. Good for you for wanting your child to learn to swim though- I think it is sad that so many parents don’t make an effort on this, especially with all of the lakes in this region. Children need to learn how to swim!!
