Bowery_GirlMemberHi West Seattle-ites! My partner and I have started a family and our 5 month old will soon be walking, and we need a bigger place! We currently live close to the Thriftway off of California and we would like to stay in this general area. We are looking for anything from Roxhill to Alki, the closer to Lincoln Park the better. I have a well behaved and trained service dog, we both have steady incomes as I work at the West Seattle Trader Joe’s and my partner works at Metropolitan Market. We are looking for a 2 bedroom apt on the ground floor with a patio, or, alternately a 2 bedroom house with a yard. Our budget is from $900 to $1000. We would like to move by the end of March, but we are flexible for the right place. Thanks guys for any help!

Bowery_GirlMemberOK. so with no replies after a couple days, perhaps we should open up our budget to 900 to 1200?

miwsParticipantHi Bowery_Girl, one option might be to drive around, especially in the neighborhoods you’re most interested in, and look for “For Rent” signs posted on properties.
It’s supposed to be nice weather this weekend!

DianeParticipantI moved to West Seattle in 2000, found a super reasonable 2 bed/1 bath house with big yard for $950; even then, everyone was shocked at what a great deal that was; and I was fortunate to be there 7 yrs; got booted at top of market because owner wanted her daughter to move in; now it’s hard to even find a decent 1 bed apt for $950; gotta admit, that if I found a house like that again while driving around, I’d snap it up in a second; good luck; and congrats on your baby (and now I’m trying to put face to name at Trader Joe’s); still absolutely ecstatic to have TJ’s in WS

SueParticipantUnfortunately, even your increased budget might be too low for a 2 bedroom house in WS these days. I rent a house near Trader Joe’s and pay $1300, and that’s the same rent I paid when I moved in 5 years ago. I was just looking on Craigslist for “west seattle house” with 2 bedrooms and the lowest price I saw was just below $1400.
Having said that, I changed the search to “West Seattle Duplex” and came up with 2 options:
($1050) http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/apa/3587725858.html (very close to me and walkable to TJ’s)
($1100) http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/apa/3592374148.html
Good luck!

jissyParticipantSaw a For Rent sign for a SF house at the corner of 47th & Graham, no details on the sign but phone is 206-937-5046 — cute little place.
