    Needed: Knee-scooter or manual wheelchair
    (cross-posted)

Does anyone have a knee-scooter or a manual wheelchair I could have, borrow, buy, or trade for? I fractured my foot on Christmas Eve, and the docs have me splinted and on non-weightbearing crutches at least until I’m seen by orthopedics on a weekday. Even then I’m skeptical they’ll let me walk, since the ER doc threatened me with surgery to add a pin.

I have a four-month-old, a five-year-old, and start a new job in a week. With non-weightbearing crutches, I’m essentially useless to the kids. Having a variety of supportive equipment would help me be more help at home, and more able to play with my older kid.

    Thanks.

my wife rented a knee scooter from Bellevue Medical Retals on Stone Way in Wallingford. It was in good condition, but needed a bit of adjusting to have solid braking. If you have insurance, they’ll cover the rental with a doctor’s order.
She used if for nearly three months in all, waiting for six weeks to see if the ligament would heal enough to draw the bones together (it didn’t) then having surgery for a pin. She had a Lisfranc injury- bone break andligament tear and opted for surgery to reduce the likelihood of major arthritis if the bones don’t realign properly. Good luck.

This sounds awful. I don’t have any equipment, but if you need running around, help at home, etc., we’re pretty free this week with no school and would be happy to help.

I have a small, manual wheelchair I can lend you. It even fits through the interior doorways in my home! Please let me know how to reach you.
