Seattle ScofflawsParticipantGuess this goes on all day, not just during the morning commute. This is from around 11:15 AM. If you didn’t already know, I have a bunch of other bus lane violation videos on my channel.

Seattle ScofflawsParticipantThis one of the Escalade is priceless. Speeding on a wet surface and cruising down the bus lane giving zero f’s. Cool man. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uw9EaJF3TbM

Seattle ScofflawsParticipantI am so tired of people not obeying the law. Tonight I was turning from Fauntleroy Way, left on to California Ave with a green arrow. The eastbound crosswalk light was set to do not walk. And wouldn’t you know? A pedestrian was crossing against the light. She was right in my L pillar so I almost didn’t see her. A lot of Darwin candidates in Seattle. If I would have honked, I would have been the jerk. If you are crossing against the light and are hit in a cross walk it is your fault. You might get a ride to the ER and it’s something you can be cited for as well. Not worth it. We are better than this West Seattle. Still, I have a feeling I will be making videos for a long time. People aren’t getting any smarter and law enforcement doesn’t enforce these sorts of things. How many car prowls per day in Seattle? Aren’t we close to the number one market in the US?

redblackParticipantagreed, but…
i think that bus lane violators on westbound alaska street into the junction are far more troubling.
love ’em or hate ’em, the lines are there, and drivers who ignore them are engaging in some really reckless, stupid, and unpredictable driving behavior.
please, knock it off. make your political statements in ways that cannot cause carnage.

AJPParticipantStill wondering how you get these videos on your cell phone while driving…
November 12, 2016 at 12:35 am #864570
JanSParticipantit’s not a cell phone…it’s a dash mounted camera, I believe…
November 12, 2016 at 5:45 am #864575
AJPParticipantI’m not sure it is mounted, because in this and other videos, it seems to be moving, as if not in a fixed place.
November 12, 2016 at 4:55 pm #864657
JanSParticipantso you think he’s holding it? which maybe in your mind would make him the unsafe driver? Is that what you’re thinking? as I watched the videos, it seemed to be in the same place to me. At the end of the video of I-405, he mentioned it was a camera…maybe address the question to him…
here, I’ll do it.. Hey, Seattle Scofflaws…what kind of camera are you using, and is it mounted on the dash?

TuesdayRodgersParticipantThat is so great that you have it on Video. I want to get a Video system for my car also so keep track of people breaking the Law so i can do my part.
Thank you for making us awareNovember 13, 2016 at 7:00 am #864697
alex234Participantyes
November 13, 2016 at 2:52 pm #864762
AJPParticipantJanS–yes. Actually I’ve asked him this before months ago. His 405 video is definitely a dash cam, but most of his videos appear to be him (actually I have no idea what gender this person is come to think of it) holding the camera in a car. While the violations on video are certainly egregious–I saw three bus lane violators just the other day–I find it ironic that a person concerned with driving safety would be using a cell phone while driving to document unsafe driving. Pot-kettle-black kind of thing.
November 14, 2016 at 2:54 am #864818
JanSParticipantAJP…but he’s not…you just ASSume…so no need to condemn him, and maybe you shouldn’t call this person out unless you actually know for a fact that he is using a cell phone, doncha think?
November 14, 2016 at 10:56 am #864855
AJPParticipantYes JanS, which is why I’ve asked, more than once, if they are using a cell phone. I’m ASSuming based on the evidence of a wobbly camera view. I don’t think it’s an invalid question. But it appears you have insider information and know for a fact that it’s a dash cam. OK.
November 14, 2016 at 3:14 pm #864899
cwitParticipantMaybe I’m missing something but finding irony in something doesn’t exactly equate to condemnation. But too-may-toe, too-mah-toe, I guess.
November 15, 2016 at 2:35 am #864984
JanSParticipantcwit…but..AJB has no proof that Seattle Scofflaw is hand holding a cell phone , recording traffic..yet is calling that person out, ASSuming that he/she is…
November 15, 2016 at 3:37 am #864985
mark47nParticipantMaking assumptions based on evidence and observations (we also like to call it the scientific method, it’s how you come to the hypothesis stage) is a legitimate way to get to proof, Jan. The video is shaky and seems to be handheld. Absent a response from Scofflaw I’m inclined it was made with a phone. I don’t need to have “proof” to give voice to my observations and conclusions.

cwitParticipantIf Seattle Scofflaw could just chime in on their method of capturing the video, that’d be great.
This video shows it panning from the right rear view mirror to the left and it doesn’t appear to be attached on the dash since the front of the dash is in the video. But that’s just my assumption.
If it’s truly a dash mounted camera that’s capturing this without distracting the driver – that’s awesome. I’m not a fan of the bus/HOV lane violators, myself. If they’re breaking the law themselves, possibly causing an accident, in order to capture these driving and bicycling infractions – please find a safer way to do so.
November 15, 2016 at 3:26 pm #865079
JanSParticipantwell, excuse me for thinking that anyone might be innocent until PROVEN guilty, instead of judging by ASSuming., and making that your central point is more important than what the OP was actually talking about….from the forum rules set up by TR and Patrick? don’t make it personal. And, frankly, it seems that mo matter what the OP might come back with, you have already deemed him guilty…way to go.
whatever…
November 15, 2016 at 7:49 pm #865126
cwitParticipantJan – Beyond your reaction to it and your use of capitalization in the word ‘ASSume’, I really don’t see how this thread is getting personal.
I didn’t realize questioning the method in which the OP captured the infractions was against the rules. Especially if it also involves breaking the law & possibly endangering others.
If you truly believe that one of us are breaking the rules of this forum, don’t dismiss it with a whatever- please go ahead and report it to the admins.
November 16, 2016 at 12:34 am #865153
JanSParticipantyou can question all you want…but you have taken your opinion and expanded it to be “the truth”(and that’s just my opinion), which it ain’t, unless the OP confirms…
and the capitalization of that word? I do that everywhere, not just here, as in assuming makes an ass out of you and me…
November 16, 2016 at 8:12 am #865165
sushiParticipantIn my own opinion on this particular video it looks to be a hand held by the way you can see the wipers in some portions and then they disappear briefly.
As for what cwit states that seattle scofflaws is capturing this without being distracted I think not…to be so intent on catching anyone “breaking a moving violation law” their mind can not be 100% on their own driving by always looking for someone doing something wrong and making sure that camera is focused on the law breaker…don’t you think?November 16, 2016 at 9:50 am #865181
cwitParticipantJust to clarify, Sushi – I didn’t state they were doing it without being distracted. I said IF they were capturing it without distracting themselves from driving – awesome. If not, I asked that they find a safer way of doing it. So I’m in agreement with you there.
JanS – I stated that it’s my assumption throughout my comments and provided evidence on how I came to that assumption. It’s your opinion that I and/or other posters have expanded it to the truth. I’ve never stated that it’s the absolute truth, just my assumption.
I did ask that they capture the scofflaws in a safer manner, IF they are capturing the video in an illegal or hazardous manner.
So yeah, just differing assumptions and opinions from various people – that’s sort of second nature of a forum. I really don’t see what there is to get upset about.
November 16, 2016 at 9:57 am #865185
KBearParticipantSure looks to me like it’s a hand held camera, in the hand of the driver. Why else would OP be reluctant to deny it? I hope THEY get caught soon. The bus lane violators may be a nuisance, but this person’s a true hazard.
November 17, 2016 at 1:26 pm #865386
Seattle ScofflawsParticipantFor Redblack: I agree about the bus lane on westbound Alaska. Private vehicles use it like it’s a regular lane of traffic. I’ll probably add that video soon. I’ve tried to work with the city for years on fixing issues (westbound Alaska bus lane too) and they wont do anything. Sorry if you feel this is inappropriate but I’ve been patient for going on a decade.
For everyone else: In the beginning I decided to not read comments because I feel my videos are of illegal behavior and that’s not debatable so I really have nothing to say. If you agree, great. If you don’t then there’s nothing I can say except that I disagree. So, watch my videos, don’t watch my videos. Whatever.

JanSParticipantSeattle Scofflaw…the videos are not inappropriate per se…we all get pissed at people who break the rules because they are selfish or clueless. What was asked is if you are recording on a cell phone or if your camera is fixed on your dash. People here are deciding that you are using your cell phone instead of a fixed camera, and commenting about it. And I have defended you, but, really, is it a problem to not say? I agree, if it is a hand held camera or your cell phone, you need to stop. It’s just as dangerous, if not more so than those you are recording. You want others to respect the laws…well…it goes both ways.
Obviously, the OP will not say, so assume on, I guess, folks…
