KimberlyParticipantHi! West Seattle mama trying to simplify our home and want to SEE how others do this. Would love to especially connect if you are passionate about minimalism/simplifying or if you are a fam or have little ones and you like the system you have working in your home. I’d love to visit a lot of homes just to hear your thoughts and see what you have going on in your space. Thank you!!!! …Kimberly

PonderosaParticipantWe don’t have children at home, but couldn’t pass up this post without suggesting Joshua Becker’s writing, as well as the Zero Waste Home blog/book by Bea Johnson, if you haven’t discovered these authors already.

PonderosaParticipantOh cool! Welcome :-) Everyone’s path and needs are completely different. The Zero Waste Home was blog inspiration as just a way to live a bit more gently on the earth, and it kind of evolved from there. I also recommend Leo Babauta and The Minimalists, the latter of who are currently on a tour of some sorts. Ultimately, our path stemmed from the desire to become debt-free, and then moved into considering zero-waste options and minimalism. While not minimalism, I find frugal living blogs tend to complement, and I love the Non-Consumer Advocate, based out of Portland.

jissyParticipantI have read (several times over actually), Simplify Your Life by Elaine St. James. It has 200+ ideas that she discusses over 1-3 pages each. I’m sure you could find it at the Library. I also have her books, Simplify your Worklife and Simplify Christmas. Always a struggle (for me at least) to pare down, I fall into that, “I’m sure I’ll need this again, someday!” And someday just clutters my garage!!!

PonderosaParticipantYou are welcome Kimberly! Glad you found those resources helpful. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting BeĆ” and she’s very inspiring. The wardrobe is one of the places that easily creeps into out of control territory for me, and I don’t even have that much by American standards. I think a smaller wardrobe is easier in California, climatewise, but there’s always a way to make it work here too, I just have to stay on top of it!
