mcwhite72MemberHey everyone,
I’m an insurance agent by trade but I’m new to Seattle and haven’t been able to find work yet. I’m willing to do just about anything to get some money rolling in until I can find a job in insurance again. General Labor, Office, food service what ever I can find. Please let me know if you here of anything.
Thanks!!

rockergirlMemberCheck out the jobs forum on here – follow-up and see if they have hired people – even if they say the job is closed you might want to see if things have worked out with the person they hired.

alki_2008ParticipantJust an FYI. You’ll need to get a food service worker’s permit if you want any food service job. It’s not a huge monetary investment, but you’ll need to read some study materials and take a test.

hollyplaceParticipantA super easy test.

ahmomParticipantNot exactly a job, but the UW is always looking for research volunteers. Most studies involve monetary compensation… some more than others! http://www.medical.washington.edu/studies/study_list.asp?healthy=Healthy
Good luck!

LincolnMemberTry Insurance Overload job placement company. I think they are in Tukwila but the place all over Seattle.

wilsonParticipantI would be interested in some feedback on the subject of trying to get a job. I have found myself in a situation where a 2nd job is needed (badly) I have worked in a professional setting for 10+ years, have a Bachelor’s degree and many years in the restaurant business….now the bad news, I am in my 40’s!! I have applied for server positions to several local restaurants (won’t name any names) I can’t even get an interview…is it pretty common NOT to hire 40-ish women to serve food in a restaurant that is a little higher end?? I’ve never really paid attention to the “age” of my server, but I am paying VERY close attention now. I am healthy, strong and I think I’m OK looking and of course the really silly stuff: dependable & honest…but no, I’m not 22. Interested in others’ thoughts on this…sheeeesh, I’m even starting to wonder if I could even get an interview with the (late) Benbow Inn….no insult intended…ate there a lot growing up….now I AM aging myself :)

rockergirlMemberWilson – have you thought about working in the catering arena – I know some people who do this as opposed to “serving”. It is hard work but the pay and rewards can be better I think.

SimplyAngie101MemberAre you looking for a job in insurance? If yes I would go to http://www.businesscareers.com and get started with them. The cost is free to you and they do all the work looking for a GOOD job for you. Also as a tip I’m pretty sure Cascade Risk Placement in Bellevue is looking for an Account Asst, the pay isn’t too great but it could get you started. There is also another staffing agency called Insurance Overload Staffing that can help you find an insurance position. :)
August 6, 2009 at 7:22 pm #666223My company is always looking for good people and is always hiring! I’m a local mother of 3 and I’ve been representing PartyLite Gifts for over 7 years here in West Seattle. I work with lots of smart, high achieving women around the city and what I do is perfect for anyone looking for a $35-$50 per hour part-time gig that’s fun, flexible and free to start. Contact me at http://www.partylite.biz/sabrinayoshitomi. I can also provide references from local West Seattle people I do business with. :-)

charlabobParticipantSabrina, you might want to post this (or move it) to the Jobs Offered forum. It might get lost here.
