We have a relatively small back yard, but are looking for some recommendations for landscaping assistance.

Main elements to the project – two small retaining walls, new lawn surface, backfill, potential of low voltage lighting and irrigation.

We have struggled to find a good contractor that doesn’t want to make this a huge project. Any recommendations appreciated!

Good luck in your search! I’m afraid I could only recommend one that is more of an artist than he is a hardscaper.

I have a similar project for my front yard. I am looking to redo a retaining wall system, dig up the yard then reseed or sod it. The wall will require removing a 3 ft. high concrete block retaining wall and rebuilding it with new blocks and adding steps in two areas. I may also want to add a sprinkler system if the cost is reasonable.

    Any suggestions?

I used a small landscaping firm called Intepra Gardens at our house on Fauntleroy. You can see some of the work done on the rockery and steps on their website, http://www.intepragardens.com. I also had a sprinkler system installed in half the yard and put in a patio in the back. There was a lot of hardscaping and planting and it was a big job. I don’t know how affordable they are compared to other firms, but they were easy to deal with and negotiable.

linxxx — My husband and I just had our whole yard redone — although we had the concrete work and rockery done by someone else, we had the best landscapers that came up with a great planting plan (and handled a few drainage issues along the way). They did a lot of the hardscape with pavers, areas of sod, are putting in a low-flow watering system and orchestrating the lighting.

We just ordered up the plants this week and they deliver Friday, but we’ve been very happy with them and their level of communication, their pricing and the fact that they show up!

It’s Good Earth Gardenscapes, the principal is Jason Jones at 425-343-4088.

HI, you might ask West seaattle Nursery if they have any recommendations. I would think they would have plenty of opionions.
