My partner and I recently discovered we are pregnant – VERY exciting! :) We live in the Admiral area and would love recommendations for any general parenting and/or lamaze classes held in West Seattle. Actually, we’re more than happy to go to other parts of Seattle and maybe Renton/Tukwila too if someone had a particularly good class experience. All tips are greatly appreciated.

I guess I jumped the gun on that. Sorry! guess these classes would work better for ya AFTER baby is born.

If I hear of anything more I’ll send the info on.

Just for you info: My friend took prenatal yoga, and it was amazing how much it helped her along the way and benefited her delivery.

    Congratulations.

Congratulations! We had a baby at the end of January and took several classes at Highline Hospital in Burien. I recommend calling them. Their website has some info. We took a birthing class, breastfeeding, and “conscious fathering.” This week I start a “Baby Steps” class for new Moms. I’ve been really impressed with the staff. Good luck..

Jennifer — congratulations…. don’t know if you are tied to Lamaze in particular, but I’ve just signed up for The Bradley Birth Method with classes here in West Seattle as recomm. by my midwife. You can find info. at http://www.bradleybirth.com and find practitioners all over the area. Good Luck!

My husband and I are taking the childbirth classes at Highline hospital and are very happy with them so far. It’s especially great if you are planning to deliver at Highline, since they can give you lots of little details about how they do things specifically at Highline, but is good preparation for any hospital delivery. Also they are reasonably priced–I think we paid $105 for the whole series, about 16 hours of class altogether.

My husband and I used the Bradley Method – and had a natural childbirth. I highly rec taking a class – it just depends on what type of birth you want. If you want to go natural (if medically possible) then Bradley is a great bet and really taught us a lot. I would also rec taking an infant CPR / first aid class (Children’s, Swedish – most hospitals offer them) and going to a LLL meeting (for breastfeeding) while you are still pregnant (late 2nd trimester).

Let me know if you want any recs on providers (we are expecting again and I’ve just been down this path of deciding where to go!). :)

    Good luck – it’s a ride!
