GabbyMemberDoes anyone know where we can have our infant carseat inspected? Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks!

JenVMemberWashington State Safety Restraint Coalition at 1-800-BUCKL-UP or visit their website 800bucklup.org for information on car seat checks. They host them all over. You can also call your insurance agent, they should know as well.

megMemberI believe there is a woman Sue Emery that will come to your house and install (for a tip) and her contact info should be on the 1800bucklup site.

IrukandjiParticipantAntwanette at Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic on Yesler (around 21st) does checks on Fridays by appointment. (206) 987-7225 She is wonderful to work with, very professional.
Here’s an article featuring Antwanette:

There is another woman around who comes to your house, but I found her, despite her history of writing the book on child seat safety, to be unreliable.Yes, Meg had her name. Sue Emery.

megMemberHmmm….sorry if I passed on the name of someone unreliable. I haven’t used her myself, since I found out about her after our seat was installed. But we had heard multiple good things about her from our ‘baby group’ people. It pays to look around and get multiple opinions/input when it comes to your babies safety!

IrukandjiParticipantmeg, no need to apologize. Sue Emery is in the field and her knowledge is highly respected. You were absolutely right to post her info.
We were initially impressed with Sue, though her personality style is a bit overwhelming. She does have LOTS of good information and works for donations. We donated highly and expected that her “24/7 any time you need more info just call” to be legit with the same level of concern and enthusiasm.
When we were about to move from infant seat to forward toddler seat, I called and scheduled with her. She never came. I called again to ask about rescheduling, and she never replied. I’ve heard from other certified installers that this is not uncommon for her. If you catch her on a good day, she’s great, but she can be inconsistent.
She’s an exceptionally knowledgeable but not wholly reliable installer. I like consistency, myself.
