    It’s that time of year again.. to remind you that friends and family who live with invisible medical conditions are doing the best they can to be as healthy as they can and do as much as they can…

    and to ask you to give anyone you know who struggles with a vast array of invisible disabilities a hug today.

    Our color of awareness is purple.. so you can do that too if you want to.. but those hugs are really important.

    Because it’s really hard for people who don’t live it to understand how anyone can walk and talk and smile and function at all if they felt as bad as they tell you they do when you ask…

    it’s too easy to believe that they exaggerate their symptoms or use them as an excuse not to do what is important to you.

    In most cases, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

    The truth is that instead of over-reporting.. they most often under-report.. because nobody really wants to hear how bad things are unless there is a solution.

    Far from pretending to be sick.. every minute they are with you they are pretending to be well.

    it’s a lonely road. it took a cancer scare for my physicians to finally begin to address quality of life issues with me.. and i have some of the best.

    Don’t wait until people you know are diagnosed with something as frightening as cancer.. give them a hug today.. a very gentle hug because we hurt… even a kiss on the cheek will do.

    let them know you care.

    Today is International Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue syndrome …. known by a variety of names … Awareness Day…
