Hello, West Seattle! My name is Chip Larson. I moved here from the midwest last month. A clerk at Safeway suggested I introduce myself here, as I don’t know many people.

For the last 18 years I’ve sold insurance: home, life, auto, you name it. My ex-wife and I have 2 wonderful children, Chip Jr and Sarah, who both live with me. I enjoy boating (who doesn’t?!), darts, and light woodworking. I’m currently building a workshop in my garage (complete with a functional urinal – how cool is that?!). I also dabble in amateur telecommunications as a hobby. I guess you can say I’m a true, all-American kind of fella. Where’s the apple pie?! haha

My most striking features are probably my cheekbones on both sides. As for beer, I enjoy lagers but these IPAs are growing on me.

I’ve noticed many beautiful trees in West Seattle. And a lighthouse! How nifty is that!!

I have a health condition that prevents me from taking long walks. The condition is called FAT! Haha. I do have pretty clear skin, I’ve been told.

I enjoy a variety of music, though Jimmy Buffet is my all-time favorite. Any fellow Parrotheads out there? Haha, no shame there!

So far Blue Moon Burger is my favorite place to grab a good old-fashioned burger and a shake (or two!). The nearby lakefront beach is wonderful for people watching and tossing a frisbee. Anybody interested in some casual frisbee? Unfortunately, I must play sitting down which sounds strange but it works, trust me. Darts, too.

I guess that’s all for now, folks. I look forward to meeting everyone.

    Chip.

hey, welcome to West Seattle. Gotta get this outta the way. It’s not a lake ;-). When I first came here many years ago from the east coast, I, too, was confused. It’s a sound that is directly connected to the ocean at some point…with salt water, octopi, sharks (gill sharks – they don’t eat people), and many other forms of underwater life. And, yes, it’s gorgeous. We are a great community, especially since the inception of this local news source, the West Seattle Blog. WS has a great bunch of people…and a few that are, well, cranky :). If you ever need info, help, suggestions, this forum is definitely the place to come and ask.

Oh, and…front page has all sorts of info…they keep up on everything. Restaurant lists, events, political events and meetings, crime…and , if you are a commuter, traffic in the early AM.One stop shopping :D

So, again, welcome…glad you are here :)

    Hi Chip!

What part of the Midwest? I am a Midwesterner too.

    Chip:

I moved here from an even more cursed left coast state to the south 20 years ago. I love West Seattle, and the WSB as much because it is West Seattle. I am a Badger by affiliation and have relatives from MN. Old parrothead though the recent stuff (15 y.o.) is meh.

Discover Beer Junction at the Junction. You may never play Frisbee other than sitting down after doing so. Discover the Farmer’s Market in the Street at California between Oregon and Alaska. Great vendors of all kinds.

We sometimes have meet-ups started on the Blog but it’s been awhile. – JayDee

we’re gonna have to work on a meetup this fall, maybe. Too many of us are broken this summer – lol. We should at least have one once a year…no?

Howdy guys and gals… Wowzers, such a warm welcome! What a nifty community this is. I’ve been traveling our fine country for nearly 2 weeks with the kiddos visiting national parks. Nothing like family time (though my kids may seriously be half-wits, as it turns out).

Driving up Admirable Way I thought to myself… I’m home. Thank you neighbors for making me feel desired. Nothing beats that, right?!

Being from a very rural small town in Missouri it’s just wonderful to have such a selection of things to do. Yesterday I found a little swimming hole in Camp Long (turns out it’s not for swimming according to people shouting at me and Chip Jr). And, there is a store that sells just cupcakes! How nifty is that!? I also took the kiddos to the farmers market which I thought was okay. A lot of walking.

Holy cow! No mosquitos here, either! My bedroom windows have no screens on them. My landlord assured me I don’t need them since there aren’t many bugs, though he has changed his mind and now wants me to close the windows due the noises I make at night! Haha.

Thanks again again for the nice welcome. I will invite you all to my house warming. Stay tuned, my neighbors.

    God bless,

    Chip L.
