LOL, Beasley, about what to do on Sundays in Lodi/Hackensack. I lived in Hawthorne and when I first moved there and found out all the stores were closed on Sundays, I thought they were kidding. Got to know the road to Wayne very well. :) In the end, I am SO much happier in West Seattle (and Seattle in general) than there!

Mr. JT, much like you, grew up elsewhere, but am really a 4th generation West Seattleite – raising the 5th. Followed the 3rd generation’s return to WS and have been here going on 18 years. How can I ever give up living 5 minutes away from three beaches? And REAL beaches (saltwater, right folks?), lakes are pretty, but…

JohnM, yep that’s my family! Your son was probably more familar with my brother who graduated in ’96…were your kids involved in sports there? I’m trying to place Ryan and Allison, but they may just be after my time.

Back in 98′ lived on California Ave in the cutest apt ever. I loved West Seattle. Left,(Long Story) and now have been back for almost 2 years. When I moved back, I felt like I was “home” I love it here and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in Seattle.

I bought a house here about 15 years ago; before that, I rented an apt. in Wedgewood for a couple of years. Before that, Rhode Island. Before that, New York, St. Louis, Spokane. Despite the ugly townhouses and the increased traffic, West Seattle is still my favorite neighborhood. Love being near the saltwater.

Born into a West Seattle home in 1984. Lived here until 2002. Went to YMCA Pre-K, Schmitz Park, Madison, West Seattle AND Seattle Lutheran Highs. Moved to L.A. for college and some post-school fun. Returned in December of 2006. Hung around the area until last month when I moved to New York City. So…18 years total?

Here since 2k. Lived downtown before that. Moved to WA in 88 from NC.

The fiance (WS since 90) was born in Hackensack, grew up in Woodridge. We went there to close up her Dads house when he died and the culture shock was terrible. No decent coffee, no wireless, monopolies on every service and a real estate warren of regulations that requires a lawyer to buy or sell a house.

But you can pick up globs of mercury for free in the creek. :)

Teterboro airport is pretty cool if you like history though.

I lived in Manhattan in the early 70’s and much of Bergen county looks exactly like it did then.

4 years. 5 years in Capitol Hill before that. Moved to Seattle from Minneapolis after my girlfriend got her grad degree from the U of MN. Had visited a friend from college out here and loved it. Decided we’d give Seattle two years to see how we liked it, and we’re still here!

I do occasionally miss the hustle and bustle of Capitol Hill, but crossing the bridge over to West Seattle is like being tranported to some secret hideaway. Part city, part not city. Like how I imagine Seattle used to exist in its original state.

WS resident since 1992. Grew up in Burien but had an uncle in WS, who we visited often. As a kid, I remember the “long” drive to West Seattle on Ambaum Blvd, traveling through the White Center retail area (and wondering what it was like during better time), and driving by West Seattle Hospital (remember that place?).

Other WS memories include shopping with my mother in the Junction, seeing a movie at the Admiral theatre and eating at Dag’s afterwards.

9 years in the Admiral District and Alki Beach since 2002 to present, don’t think I’ll ever move, however, am considering a place in Hawaii to get away during the monsoonal season. I’ve lived in Seattle 31 years!

Born in Tacoma in 1962, moved to Fauntleroy area of West Seattle in 1963. I was not yet 1 year old.

    Attended:

Little Pilgrim School Preschool (Still open!!)

    Fauntleroy Elementary School

    Denny Junior High

    Sealth High School

Do the math, I’ve lived in WS over 45 years!

My parents both lived in West Seattle attending Madison and West Seattle High School.

I’m a true WS native and I love raising my family here.
