I was thinking of hiring a couple “Day Workers” from the Home Depot parking lots to do some heavy yard work. Does anyone have any experience hiring these guys ? Would it be safe of a single woman to do it ? Any issues, good or bad ? Any idea how much they charge ?

You might try Casa Latina or the Millionaire Club. They vet their workers and it might be a safer way to go.

One other problem to consider is that if one of the workers were to get hurt while working on your property and if they are not licensed, bonded, and insured they can sue you for their medical costs. Having checked with labor and industries office in Kent, this is frequently happening and the labor cost on your job may end up more than you had budgeted for.

As one single woman to another, don’t take anyone in your car.
Casa Latina is the BEST. In addition to vetting, the workers get all of the money whereas at Millionaires they have to give a percentage. I have been using Casa Latina for 20 years and couldn’t recommend them highly enough. In addition, you can have the worker delivered to your door.

That is awesome to have a human delivered to my door.

Oh, I thought you meant by ICE. You meant packages. Both are true, unfortunately.

I think the Home Depot guys are fine. Most likely they have their own cars too. These people are typically highly skilled and it may be more expensive. I hired a few to work on my roof and they did a great job. If you are still concerned you can call Danny Munoz at Dans landscaping, he can give you a free estimate!
