captainDaveParticipantmostlycynical: November 8th was “D-Day” for the progressive left. The “progressive” movement is over. It’s going to take some time for liberals to understand this and accept the gravity of their situation. Liberals have been recklessly living an unsustainable fantasy that increasingly depended on the subversion, oppression, enslavement and deaths of too many other people here and around the globe.
Today on Veterans Day, we honor the millions who fought for our freedom to experiment with different styles of governance. It was their efforts that gave the people of this country the ability to prevail against the tyranny of the leftist agenda. However, we have only won a battle, and not the war. There is a lot of work to do in educating and enlightening the victims of systematic institutional brainwashing that has been occurring for last half century.

Since you were engaged in an exchange with KBear about racism and made references to the egalitarian nature of the Constitution, I thought it would be helpful to point out that many of Trump’s supporters decry that inclusive posture of the Framers.
My sources? I assume you are aware of the roll of Steve Bannon as Trump’s campaign CEO and his tilt of Breitbart.com to a decidedly racist slant? No? Perhaps if you look into the views espoused by Milo Yiannopoulos who Bannon gave an editor slot you will what I mean. Bannon is reportedly under consideration for Chief of Staff.
It’s surely not news to you that Trump has been enthusiastically embraced by the Alt Right crowd?

Do I think Trump has detailed an explicitly racist agenda? No of course, not, and that’s not what I said is it? I made reference to what is recognized as a prominent, influential sector of his base as explicitly opposing the inclusive aspects of the US Constitution. But you know that’s what I said, don’t you. Perhaps if your reading was more diverse you’d have been more aware of those references. Watch out for the bubble.

he says that adding profit centers to medicare will bring down the costs..
he also says that the ACA increased medicare costs

SunuvaParticipantI thought that might be the case, mostlycynic. We are very different types of people. Gloating suits you well, so have a ball man. In the meantime, I’ll choose love over hate and will tell people I love them even if we disagree and I will work to bring those who disagree closer to me rather than push them away. This isn’t a game. I personally couldn’t gloat about something knowing it brings others real pain and suffering. I voted for positive change and for helping others beyond myself and am sick that *we* lost, because all of this is bigger than me and I care about how my actions affect others.

Yes, I am well aware of the tough love Bannon and Yiannopoulos have been dishing out to snowflake liberals. Not my style, but I can certainly decipher the wisdom and logic in their words–it’s quite interesting how many enlightened minorities are in their audiences–don’t you think? Maybe Milo will be head of the FCC?
How can you express so much concern for degradation of the Constitution when your candidate clearly wanted to neuter the first and second amendments with liberal activist puppet judges on the Supreme Court? How can you possibly extrapolate that the Trump administration wants to change the constitution with traditional constitutional justices? Under Hillary, the Constitution would have been essentially reduced to the constructs of English Common Law where new precedence can be used to manipulate and override the previous rule of law.
Sorry for the delayed response, I was out on the Duwamish River with the fine people from Puget Soundkeeps learning about ways to help reduce the toxic crap that flows down from the lofty ivory towers of liberalism on the hill.

JTBParticipantcD, Not intending to address the points about you not understanding the roll of the Surgeon General or the racist underpinnings of the Alt-right and its connection to Trump? “Tough love” Certainly conveys the degree to which you are uncomfortable with racist and misogynistic “banter.” Not so much, it appears.
As far as Trump’s respect for the Constitution and his choices for SC justices, we’ll see. But if they are the sort that seem down with the numerous unconstitutional measures he advocated during the campaign, I’m sure we’ll have some very interesting oversight reviews.

and .. it’s incorrect.there was no imperial presidency.. our constitution contains some pretty effective checks and balances that out next President won’t have to be so concerned about since the party he represents will be in control of those checks and balances.. unlike the reality of the Obama presidency.
as for that social beuracracy.. are you aware that Democratic administrations actually shrink government beuracracy.. or are you unconcerned about the amount of beuracracy as long as you think it benefits business.. even if the only to give those with monopolies a legislative and financial edge over small entrepreneurial businesses like yours.. or is your real problem that you think someone else is getting what you think you should get?
I am guessing you didn’t really think those things through before repeating them as “facts”
and i have to wonder just what it is you hear in your head when you read my posts… have i not made it clear that i not only understand who won the election but what that means for America…

dhgParticipantSocialism has its place. Creating roads, bridges, a retirement safety net, medical care are all good examples of socialism at work. Before the social revolution took over the fire department, trucks would sabotage each other as they fought for the right to put out a fire and charge for it.
Capitalism has its place. Creating competition for nonessential services and luxury goods produces eye-catching beauty in clothing, architecture and art. It makes for better food as well. (Why do the French have such great restaurants? Because THEY DEMAND IT. If only we would do the same.)
Regulation has its place. Keeping children out of the coal mines is a great idea and yet it’s hardly 100 yrs old. Regulating insurance companies to ensure they have the financial backing to support their losses is another great idea.
All of these things have to be measured and moderated.
There is one faction that strongly disagrees: the libertarians. They believe capitalism is the only solution to every problem. This was tried 100 years ago and had some spectacular failures. Privatized police departments, fire departments, private roads…people starving in the streets when the churches turn them away. That vision is hellish.
Clinton was not leading us to some imperialistic, socialist dream. She was leading us to better, moderated gun control, better health care for everyone, strengthening medicare and social security. These things need to be done to make for a stronger society.
As the gap between the very poor and the very rich widen, the very rich risk another Bastille day.

nowhere does it mention promoting the welfare of only the few… the privileged..
domestic tranquility has definitely been disturbed and nothing Trump proposes will promote general welfare… as for those blessings of liberty .. well… apparently not if you are not a white male of substance…
