charlabobParticipantIs anyone else posting and having their postings not show up as on the top page list? This has happened to me twice today. The postings are actually in the forums — not on the top level list. In other words, is it something I’m doing?
c – guilt ridden at best :-)

WSBKeymasterCharla, I just found several by you that the spam filter thinks were “spam” and I’m not 100 percent sure why – it’ll take a while to cross-compare with some of the words I have in the filter for the main site. I can’t kill the spam filter because we (like most websites) continue to be under siege by spammers (there are half a dozen bogus forum registrations I have to delete that just showed up overnight – spammers are able to program not just spam comments and trackbacks but even spam forum registrations with the main goal of having their URLs just sit around as SEO fodder).

charlabobParticipantWhew — I’m glad I’m not crazy too. LB, the odd thing is the postings to get posted — they just don’t get listed. Well, I don’t actually know that every posting gets posted — I’m not quite that big a fan of myself :-)
I can only imagine ths spam you get — but I’d rather not think about it.

charlabobParticipantYou guys don’t know what you’re missing: I just found out that least four of my brilliant tomes in the Obama thread never made it beyond my own brain and fingertips and screen. That explains why I didn’t hear from JoB about some of ’em :-)
I *thought* they appeared in the forum and just not on the list, since they do for me. But I show 158 posts in the Barack thread and catlbob (who’s sitting in the other room) shows 152. Barack seems to be the only forum affected.
WSB, does your spam filter have a whitelist facility? That’s a quick and dirty way around it. I gotta say, as a professional breaker of software (tester) this is a most intriguing bug.

WSBKeymasterShort answer, not that I know of.
Short fix, it appears I can “unspam” the forum posts that wind up in that bin so I am in there doing that now. Does not seem to be a rhyme or reason why, I will take some time in the next day or so to googlesearch on bbpress bugs and see if there’s an explanation. May be the thread getting cranky since it’s gotten so long, but that doesn’t make sense either.

WSBKeymasterP.S. I hunted down those 8 spam-marked posts in that thread and they should all show now for everyone, not just C-bob (they were all hers, except for one by WSMom). I’m going to patrol the rest of the threads to see if anything else has been affected – just noticed a moderator feature I hadn’t noticed before that flags me at the start of threads, so it will be easy enough. Thanks for your patience … (UPDATE: That was the only thread affected. Maybe bbPress gets grumpy about politics too.)

charlabobParticipantThanks so much, WSB — this is certainly not the most important thing in the world — just wanted to let people know it was sneakier than I thought :-)
