HomerParticipantHi again everyone, thanks for the warm welcome to WSB and to West Seattle on the Trader Joe thread. Got one more…don’t feel like driving to South King County to see my old general doctor (plus she wasn’t all that great) and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for one’s that are good (obviously ;-)) and relatively close by here.
I’m more into the style where the doctor actually takes the time to listen to me before they start rattling off diagnostics. Also, NOT one for a doctor who immediately prescribes a drug when I might be able to gargle with saltwater first, or even just “hey, you’ll get over it in a few days”. I’m definitely not against medicines, just rather use them with disrection and not have them prescribed to me like candy so the doctor can get more $ for referring the drug.
Whewww, that was a lot…anywho, any recommendations are GREATLY appreciated. THANKS!!!

AnonymousInactiveHomer, you’re really going to try again after how the TJ thread went:)
Don’t know if this is up your alley, but Dr. Quan on 35th is very old school. Little one room office, her husband runs the business end. No other staff. Absolutely no bells and whistles whatsoever, from equipment to drug pushing. You might even have second thoughts walking in, but don’t let the book fool you.
She is incredibly smart, proficient, thorough, and kind. And if the fancy smancy stuff is needed, has no hesitation to refer you to the proper specialist. Possibly the last doctor in the world who will see you whether you have the best insurance in the world, or are on medical coupons.
I do have one complaint. She takes her time with everyone! If you don’t schedule for early in the day, you will probably have a wait.

HomerParticipantYeah, I’m just hoping this thread doesn’t turn into one about immigration or NAFTA!!! ;-) Whewwww, what a turn!
Anyway, thanks so much JT, I really appreciate it. Do you know approx. how old Dr. Quan is (30’s,40’s, 50s)? I just don’t want to get in with a great doctor just to have them retire and have to start this process all over again.
Thanks so much again and maybe a racially sensitive TJ’s will come in! ;-)

AnonymousInactiveHomer, I want to say late 40’s early 50’s. I’m so bad with ages. And I know what you mean about the start over stuff. I guess you would have to ask about retirement concerns. If you’re thinking of trying her, I just have to say again, bare bones, old clinic atmosphere, but not reflected in the care. I’ve seen her for 8 years and feel very well taken care of and listened to.
