We need to find someone to repair our decades-old manual garage door spring mechanism. I’ve found online a couple garage door companies in Seattle that offer repair, of course always nice to get direct recommendations. Thanks in advance.
Yep, distribudoors is great! Very honest and straightforward people working for them. We used them twice, once to repair a broken spring when we first bought our house. When they fixed that, they let us know that the motor attached wasn’t rated enough for our heavy door and would probably give out in about two years. And sure enough! They got us set up with a better motor and threw in keyless entry too. Very good people.
Sadly striking out, our door is too old for repair, two different companies have said they don’t repair our type and would only be able to replace the whole thing.
Before we go that far, we would like to exhaust other options to have this fixed. Anyone know of a skilled handyman who understands this kind of mechanism well enough to fix this? Might be as simple as careful welding but we don’t want to make any assumptions.
Try this guy – he was awesome and has been doing it for a long time and may have the experience you need. 206.764.7920 He can be a little hard to get a hold of. He’s a one man shop. Company name: All American Garage Door. Good luck. He fixed ours a while ago.
Thanks again for the input. The door got fixed (if not a little better than before!) today. Found a company that in addition to usual installation and service salvages old parts for just this kind of situation, they were able to replace the broken workings with the exact same thing. It’s Anderson’s Door Co http://www.andersonsdoorco.com in case others find this feed and need similar custom help.
Thanks Big Bling but had already set this up by the time I saw your response.
