Wandered in to Raccolto for their soft open last night and it was already full. We got the last seats at the bar, which is our preference. First impressions are that the dining room is noisy (high ceiling and mezzanine section) but it was much quieter in the low-ceilinged bar area. Despite how busy they were service was smooth and we enjoyed chatting with the bartender and the diners next to us. We shared three courses. The beef tartare was a large portion and very flavorful. The lamb bolognese with spagetti was creamy and delicious, and we also really enjoyed the whole branzino with brown butter and herbs. It’ll be a nice addition to the Junction.

I agree with your assessment. Excellent service and tasty pasta. Fun to see the chefs at work in the immaculately clean open kitchen. Wines by the glass were somewhat on the pricey side. Decor left me a little cold. The minimalist look might be trendy, but it’s become a cliche. Plus it makes for bad acoustics. I don’t like to raise my voice to be heard. Could use some art on those tall, white walls. And it doesn’t thrill me to see foie gras on the menu.
Would I return? For the fresh pasta and friendly service, hell yes!

Just my 2 cents regarding foie gras: It was a hot debate a few years ago when Chez Million was open. While researching the issue, I found out that the geese will line up for their force feeding. It is not painful. Bird gullets are designed differently from human gullets and it allows them to pack their throat with food without interfering with breathing. IT’s not torture, they don’t lead a bad life.

Let’s agree to disagree, dhg! I know a thing or two about birds.

I really want to try this place out but the seats look so close together which is a huge pet peeve of mine. Can anyone confirm this? I’m talking about the tables for two specifically.

It really depends upon your definition of how close is too close. I think I could move between tables without brushing up against them and I’m not skinny, but you’d certainly overhear conversations.

One thing I did notice is that the tables next to the door can get a rush of cold air when people come/go. I think they may need to hang a curtain there come this winter or they’ll have people asking to move.

Went back again last night. More delicious food, and they’ve added baffles to one wall to absorb sound. We were told they do have an art piece to add to the large wall.
