WSBKeymasterThis is a milestone for us and of course we’re going to announce it in the West Seattle Jobs Offered section first.
It’s a two-part job listing – though the prerequisites are similar for both.
First: We now pay freelance journalists for stories we assign (example, the ongoing coverage of the 59th/Admiral murder trial). We invite more experienced freelance journalists interested in covering news for WSB to send resumes and clips/URLs, as West Seattle’s ongoing growth means there’s more news to cover every day – and every night.
Second: We are recruiting experienced journalists for the position of part-time WSB reporter/editor. This would involve one guaranteed weekend day of work each week for starters, and potentially other assignments at other times of the week, depending on our needs and your flexibility/availability. Journalism experience, Internet proficiency, and familiarity with West Seattle are all required. Send resumes and text files and/or URLs with samples of your work – short-form news/information work examples welcome as well as long-form articles.

WSBKeymasterThank you so much. I should have added, everyone is welcome to forward, but the West Seattle familiarity is important. As is the fact that this is a telecommuting gig, since we do not (yet) have a physical storefront.

CaptainBroncsMemberSince this was posted 3 months ago, I was wondering if you are still looking for a freelance Journalist. I know some one who would be great and is very familiar with West Seattle as that person gre up here. I will forward the forum link so they can look.

WSBKeymasterYup, I haven’t made the part-time hire yet (very close now), but have continued to add freelancers to the roster for potential assignments, so I’d love to hear from the person you have in mind – Tracy
