birdrescuerParticipantMy hope is that women who love to read will also love to come and discuss a variety of books. I look forward to deep discussions while having fun. General focus will be on reading books that relate to contemporary issues.
First meeting
Monday, October 9 at 7PM.
Uptown Coffee on Delridge, This place stays open late and has a separate meeting space. If we meet away from our homes, no one has to clean or cook :-).

birdrescuerParticipantWatch this spot. Due to a small response, I am postponing the initial meeting. Time/date TBD. I will post back when there are few more people that express interest. You can post below or email me at the address above.

anonymeParticipantPart of the problem might be the word “feminist”. Even today, I’ve observed very negative reactions to it from both men and women – even women whose lives embody the very concept of feminism. As someone who was around during the inception of the movement, I find this disturbing and challenge it whenever possible. If you do some research, this taint was no accident. There was a strong political backlash that set out to deliberately trivialize and discredit the movement. For example, the famous “bra-burning” that never happened, and the label “bra-burner” that followed.
Might make for an interesting discussion once you’ve found a way to circumvent the “F” word.

birdrescuerParticipantI used the word Feminist with complete intent and do not plan to circumvent it. I want to be in process with women comfortable identifying as Feminist. We start on a stronger ground for difficult discussions. If it takes a bit longer to get five to eight women, that is fine. When we get together we will rock.

JoBParticipanti will be da puffin’s transportation..
i am sorry so many women bought the storyline about feminism… it was their loss
one of these days they will figure that out..
but until then i too would just as soon be in process with people who embrace the term.September 26, 2017 at 6:55 am #896005
anonymeParticipantI don’t disagree with the stance; it was an objective observation of a social phenomenon.
