Checking to see if any readers were involved in an incident with a Fed Ex truck about 2:20 this afternoon, 6/20/18, at the corner of 35th & 102nd?
I heard sounds of a verbal altercation and looked out to see a Fed Ex truck with a white vehicle stopped right behind it. Then I heard a bang, followed by my gate slamming loudly. I went out, and found my package on the walkway inside my yard. I noticed the gate was ajar, and when I went to close it I saw that the latch was bent in half and damage done to the gate where the screws had torn out through the wood. It won’t close at all now. The truck hadn’t left yet, and I confronted the driver. He denied having “touched” my gate – an interesting position given that he’d just delivered a package. Then he backed up at speed down the block, as if he were looking for someone.
My theory is that he’d had words with someone in another vehicle (probably about his driving) and took it out on my gate. Looking for witnesses, as I’ll be filing a claim. The gate hardware was brand new, just installed a few weeks ago. I would really appreciate any witnesses who might have seen what happened. Thanks in advance.
