Hi, wondering if others out there are fighting SPU over extra garbage charges? I found a commentary in here from 2015 but not finding anything more recent. In a nutshell, we live in the Fauntleroy area and have $10-20 a week in extra garbage charges tacked on to our bill. The caveat here is our house is under construction and is on a ‘garbage hold’ with bins in the garage so they’re not even out, much less overstuffed. We have called every single billing cycle to dispute and got the usual questions, “are you sure no one else is putting trash out”, “are your bins accessible and maybe someone is using them”, etc. On this last billing cycle they said they ‘cannot remove the charges’ but will ‘send an inspector out within the next couple of weeks’. We are living close by, are in a pretty quiet area, and are 99.99% certain no one is putting trash on our curb but just installed a motion camera to be certain nothing is amiss. Do others have this issue? Thinking of sending this to the City Council as someone had mentioned that in the 2015 discussion… wondering if that would make any difference! Tales welcome.
