KatieYMemberI am a SAHM with 1 year old and in need of some extra spending money, well gas money. I would love to take the kids out for walks to the beach, wading pools, playdates, and Children’s Museum just to name a few. My rate is $10/hr and prefer to care for 1 child. DianeParticipantI’m also looking for babysitting jobs in West Seattle; I have lots of experience, excellent family references, one long-term West Seattle family that I babysit for on-call; looking for few more local families, partly to save gas/time commuting to homes all over Seattle; also to meet more local families; my specialty is infants/toddlers, exp with all ages and multiples
anyone need a sitter this weekend? next week?

DianeParticipantI would love to get feedback from local West Seattle families on how/where you get your babysitters; only by referrals? if you run out of referrals, where do you look?

kimkrasneyahoocomMemberI’ve had great success on Craigslist. I look for a college student, and someone who writes a nice posting. BUT my child is seven. My teenage daughters sit a lot, but if there is an infant (or infant + child), I have sent them together. I, myself, always preferred someone with lots of infant experience; there are great sitters out there.

DianeParticipantthanks Kim for the feedback; I was overjoyed first few years with CL child care section, especially as it grew to be more well known, connect more families and nannies, and still huge fan of CL; but it’s now so popular, covers a huge geographic area, daily “fighting” (which is not allowed, still happens) and the crazy illegal scammers are very active; I still use CL and love it, but have to be very careful, and with the price of gas, trying to find more families local to West Seattle
I have a babysitting ad posted on CL now, stating specifically looking for families in West Seattle, and still get calls from people in Mill Creek, Bellevue……

KatieYMemberThanks Aim- I emaild them. But if anybody else needs a part time babysitter threw out the summer I am still available. I have some wonderful referances and love children. I am CPR/First Aid trained.

hi everyone; thanks for the responses; wanted to clarify a bit, based on questions received:
I’m looking for on-call & temp child care jobs; last minute calls ok
Specialize in newborns, infants, toddlers; experienced with all ages
I can fill in for nanny breaks, or temp while you search for ideal nanny; date nights, weddings, whatever
Resume, reference letters, cpr, non-smoker; have my own carseats, strollers, Bjorn carrier
Available now for days, nights, weekends, overnights
Prefer min 8 hr days; min 4 hr nights
Shorter notice (within day or week) actually works best for me, since I’m searching for full time job, so hard to commit beyond a week or more out
I’m only available for on-call, temp fill-in, retiring from full time, longterm child care; getting into urban design, green building, historic preservation; searching for my dream job, and will continue to do on call babysitting as time allows, even after starting my new career; would love to build relationships with few more families for ongoing on-call babysitting jobs; right now my schedule is very open, while I’m in job search mode; if you need a babysitter, even last minute, please give me a call or email (I do better with email divincent@aol.com, unless it’s urgent and I’m on the road, please call 206-949-7377)
