AnonymousInactiveI was wondering if anyone has any tips on getting construction to follow the law/rule about noise and parking violations? I filed complaints online but haven’t gotten any responses from the city. Just wondering if anyone else had had success with getting construction nosie to stop when it goes past 11 PM during the week and starts before 7 AM during the week, vehicles parking illegally, blocking driveways etc. I have been to speak with the workers too.

JenVMemberHave you tried filing a complaint with the DPD (department of planning and development)? They take noise violations pretty seriously. Good Luck.

AnonymousInactiveYeah, this is where I have filed 3 of them. Thanks.

JenVMemberyeah, I was afraid of that. Sometimes they are super-responsive, and other times not so much.

beachdrivegirlParticipantcall the tow line for the blocking of driveways to get them towed. that quickly stopped them from parking illegal near my house earlier in the year.

AnonymousInactiveWhat is the tow line number? I’ve called the non emergency number and never gotten any response. Thanks.

beachdrivegirlParticipant206-625-5011. It takes a couple of hours becuae they first have to dispatch an officer to really determine if they are illegally parked and then the officer calls the tow truck company. However, if it is continually happening which in my case it was and they were blocking me in it is well worth it.

AnonymousInactivethanks, whenever I have called this number I have not gotten any help. I’ll keep trying.. I’m beginning to think someone at the city doesn’t like me er sumthin’ :)

beachdrivegirlParticipantI called about every 10-15minutes one day and they got the point… but then again my car was blocked in and i had places to be. good luck.

AnonymousInactiveI’ve been there where I couldn’t get out but I only called once.. I guess I am too trusting :)

JeraldParticipantIf you can figure out a way to make it a public safety issue you might get a faster response. Make it sound like a serious hazard. Visibility blocked, going to cause an accident, etc.

AnonymousInactiveThanks Jerald.
In addition to it being inconvenient/illegal to me, my intersection is dangerous with poor visibilty already. I’ve tried to get traffic calming devices etc installed but the city is telling me they have to wait until enough incidents occur.

JeraldParticipantThere was once a small commercial fishing boat parked on the sidewalk near my house. (strange sight) The boat was dark gray and the sun was going down and I actually worried someone would walk right into it. I was amazed at how fast the city dealt with it. (It was in an odd location and not obvious whose it was so I couldn’t speak to anyone directly about it.) I assumed they came quickly because I told them it was dangerous. But who knows.

rockergirlMemberI have had pretty good luck on complaints in residential projects when I reported the problem online @ http://web1.seattle.gov/dpd/complaintform/- Inspectors called me and gave me there direct phone #’s to call if problem arose again. Not sure if your project is commercial or residential but I definitely feel for you either way – such a hassle and disruption. We had a cement company show up in our residential neighborhood at 4:30 AM one morning to pour concrete – definitely made me cranky!
